Burns v Jose Ocampo

Post by GlobalBox »

Appaerntly, this is his 15th Dec defence.

Although no doubt Billy will say if its wrong, just heard it from a mate who reckons its on.

Not a good fight on paper, we will have the late notice type excuses and no one better than this guy, find that a bit hard to swallow looking at his record though.

Still Good luck Rickster.

He is ranked at 14 by WBO (one place below Liam Walsh!), so it's entirely feasible.

Records can be deceiving, but i'd be surprised if this one went longer than 4 rounds.

Poor, poor opponent. Even someone like Ameth Diaz would have been better.

Why have I got a horrible feeling that Manny Pacquiao's name will be heavily involved in selling this fight?

Burns has already said 'these Filipino's come to fight' or whatever. I'm English, doesn't mean I fight like David Haye!

Saying that, it's not Ricky's fault so all the best to him

I do. I ponce around with my hands too low & get knackered far quicker than you'd expect, by looking at me.

All I lack is the speed, power & athletic talent. Otherwise the resemblance is uncanny.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more reaction to this. The optimist in me says that people appreciate that at a fortnight's notice it was going to be difficult to arrange anyone eye catching, the pessimist says that we're all too used to this kind of crap that's constantly being dished up...

He's in a training camp to fight Walsh. He pulls out what more to you guys want.. It's best to have a fight to keep him ticking over.. This may well turn out to be a better opponent than Walsh time will tell..

But its not a fortnights notice.

I mean, it is now, but Walsh pulled out a couple of weeks ago so at that point there was a months notice. Ocampo would stretch credulity if brought in during the week of the fight, but with a months notice, it appears to be a shocking choice.

Yeah, fair point...I'd forgotten how long it had been since Walsh pulled out.

Ricky is rated third by boxrec and Ocampo is sixty third! Says it all really. Why not a simple 10 rounder?

Sorry but the fight is just over two weeks away. Your not going to get a World Class opponent on that short notice. This fighter is probably European level at best with that record.
