I thoguht it might be superbad hayes but he had a lot of points wins, or the guy who got HIV - Lamar Parks but he fought Johnson for the WBA title and had a couple of pts wins before that.

Not Ike, he had a few points wins. The guy I'm talking about stopped everyone he beat, not one decision win. He did lose some fights but was only stopped once himself. Not a lighter weight and not a really old timer either.

No. Part of it's that I don't follow alphabet rankings and don't know all the top-ten fighters.

Ok some more clues as your all struggling.

I believe he was as high as number one ranked contender at one point and he fought in the 60's and 70s. He knocked out a former world title challenger in one round and 24 of his stoppage wins were in 5 rounds or less. Although his knockout ratio is good he is rarely mentioned in any discussions about big punchers.

Pug, there was a thread a while back in this section, might have been one of those long-winded old timer ones but someone one here said they had seen on of the old legends in action in the 50s (?) and said they were up against a huge punching prospect and after he'd beat the old timer like a drum for 2-3 rounds he got KO'd himself and his career was effectively over.

Yes think he was, some sites claim that anyway. He went 24-0 (24 kos) before Quarry beat him so maybe then?

I did a bit of searching but it appears to be a bit broken. It could be Billy Arnold but I seem to remember him being KO'd? Maybe it was the Graziano fight.

The one that comes to mind is much farther back when Ace Hudkins beat Ruby Goldstein but I don't think that's the one you are thinking of. Lemme think more..
