How far can Eubank Jr go ....
Boxrec now has Eubank Jr at 7 in the British rankings
http://boxrec.com/ratings.php?sex=M&div ... K&pageID=1
He has been moved fast and has to be credited for his ambition he will be in a position where he needs to box for titles in a fight or two or will begin to tread water what are you thoughts on this is he experienced enough to fight BJ Saunders, Hope, O Kane Blackwell
How would he fair at this stage with the man in the other corner having decent notice/prep for the fight ?

Nice handspeed, nice footspeed...though he really needs to tighten up those mistakes. Had Pryce been a genuine Middleweight with a MW's punch I dare say he'd have dropped Eubank with some of the counters he was landing as Eubank rushed in. I've been critical of him and whilst he's improved he hasn't the power to keep genuine Middleweights off him and I think a fair few of them will be willing to take 2 to land 1 on him.

I thought he was the business after his debut. Now I'm pretty sure he can't go to world class. He's just too feather fisted, he's going to have to go through hell to pull out wins and as has been said guys will be taking risks against him all night.

Ships far too many and that's at domestic level.

Good prospect matched hard! Hoping Hennessy put him on in London or even his home town! Think he be knocking on British title next year!

Am i the only one that dont agree with this, about 10 different people have said this to me.. Ok Price is def a step up and a good fight on paper but the fight last night was at Super Middle Weight Price has boxed low as Super Feather Weight... Before that was a W13 L24 + drawn 1. W8 L11 D1, W11 L11 D6, W12 L5 D1 etc.. I dont understand how anyone can say he is been matched hard

Please tell me that's being talked about? This would be a craker. Eubank would be wrong to stand and trade.twenty six wrote:Undecided.

If anything, I think this how prospects SHOULD be matched. Shouldn't any fighter be looking towards an Area/Masters/English title within his first ten bouts and British title within a dozen-odd?

Re: How far can Eubank Jr go ....
Eubank has a lot to recommend him, but I think there are some definite issues. Mainly, a lack of power on his part - he takes a few chances coming in, which means that a higher level of fighter, and one who is actually at this weight category, is going to be in with a good chance of hurting him, and that is too much of a chance to take if he is not going to gain a bit of dig. He needs to be saved from himself a bit and run slowly for the next 12 months or so...
Re: How far can Eubank Jr go ....
Early doors yet, I was impressed with him on Saturday. He was definately hurting Pryce. I think a bit like his father he won't have one punch KO power at the highest level (as side from a few highlight reel KO's - Eubank Snr was never regarded as a KO artist). However, it will come a bit more than it is as he gets older.
I do worry though about whether he will go off the rails. I am a bit worried with how much he tries to imitate his old man. Needs to become his own fighter.

Re: How far can Eubank Jr go ....
Well at least we know more about Eubank jnr than alot of prospects after 8 fights, usually we would know a 'prospect' can knock over East Europeans by now and thats it.
How far can he go? hard to say really, i think he's more than capable of mixing it at British title level, then after that its 'who knows' . Sometimes a division can be weak so its easier for a boxer to get to Euro or World level.
I know Eubank Jnr is starting to call out Degale, but he's a couple of levels below that at the moment. He's keeping busy and that means he keeping in shape. Also he has a tough aura around him, and seems to get into the head of opponents before the first bell, that may come back to bite him at some point.

There is far better talents ,Billy Joe Saunders and Groves to name just two ,IMHO from what i seen Eubank Jnr he is over hyped and well overrated ,he punches fast but so far looks like he couldnt punch the skin of a custard tart,he looks like hes catching people with McClellan type bombs but they are landing with as much concussive impact as Ant or Dec could land

Re: How far can Eubank Jr go ....
He has fast hands, seems to take a punch well, good fitness, good ability and bundles of confidence but the lack of punch power is a real concern. I can't see him winning a world title but has a good chance at winning belts at domestic and euro level.
Re: How far can Eubank Jr go ....
Does Pryce not post on here? I'd be interested to know his view on Eubank's potential after sharing the ring with him for 8 rounds. Also how heavy-handed Bradley says he is. Some fighters may not be one punch artists but they can put people away if they land sustained flurries e.g. Calzaghe. Eubank does not sustain attacks just now, he needs to start doing that, I feel.
Re: How far can Eubank Jr go ....
Once again it is another boxer who is built up to much... He has just living of his dads name/legacy...
Re: How far can Eubank Jr go ....
he will not go far at all and the scoring was very poor in his fight the other night
he did win the fight but was on the back foot and lost a few rounds

I get the impression that Eubank tends to use each fight for a bit of experimentation. he was throwing bodyshot after bodyshot for a couple of fights. a couple of fights back, he was throwing multiple uppercuts with both hands over and over. I'd like to see him do the same with his jab because with his seeming lack of power it'll be his most important punch as he goes up in levels.

Re: How far can Eubank Jr go ....
What I do like is he is fighting very regularly. No training in the world compares to rounds under your belt, keeps your fitness up, gets your body used to being hit in a real fight, and of course his experience and confidence will increase.
It's better to go 10 fights and get taken the distance in most of them rather than sparking everyone in 60 seconds, the quick wins don't really do much for your game, although having the equaliser certainly helps !!!

True, although I don't believe 99% of boxers who say "oh I didn't want to knock him out, I could have if I wanted to but doing the rounds was more important".Controversial wrote:What I do like is he is fighting very regularly. You don't get paid for overtime in this game and its the fighters instinct to go for the kill (well it should be).
