Your ideal route to a Klitschko for David Price
Your ideal route to a Klitschko for David Price
There has been much talk of Price fighting Wlad within a couple of fights.
I believe it's too early for Price to take and win this fight even though I am a huge fan of his and I think he already has the best chance of any heavyweight to beat Wlad. I think fighting him in 2013 would be too soon.
My ideal road map for Price would be as follows:
February/March 2013: Tony Thompson (already lined up apparently for the Echo Arena, Liverpool)
May/June 2013: Derek Chisora in Liverpool
September/October 2013: Tyson Fury in a stadium in Liverpool or Manchester
January/Febuary 2014: Robert Helenius or Pulev away from home
May/June 2014: Wlad in Germany.
I believe he would have more chance of beating Wlad than Vitali, as he'd find it difficult to stop Vitali who has never been down, whilst I believe in 18 months time and with more experience the Wlad fight would be a matter of who lands first and for me Price hits harder but obviously there are question marks over his chin.
Thoughts?

I think the Helenius/Pulev fight is surplus IMO, I'd like to see him fight Wlad after the Fury fight
It may well work out that he fights Wlad before Fury, because there are less complications (in terms of tv and promoters)

Re: Your ideal route to a Klitschko for David Price
I think Price needs a fight in someone else's back yard though before Klitschko. I appreciate that as an amateur he'll have boxed all over the world but going straight into a fight in Klitschko's adopted hometown with the vast majority of fans cheering for Klitschko would be a very daunting experience for anyone let alone someone who has never boxed abroad as a pro. Price needs to be taken way out of his comfort zone before going into the lions den and Helenius or Pulev would be the best guys to experience that against. My preference would be Helenius just because of his similar size to the Klitschko's.Chambers2 wrote:I think the Helenius/Pulev fight is surplus IMO, I'd like to see him fight Wlad after the Fury fight

Re: Your ideal route to a Klitschko for David Price
A fight against Pulev over in the continent is probably the best thing you can do to prepare yourself for a Klitchsko.
Re: Your ideal route to a Klitschko for David Price
I thought the Thompson fight was in the U.S ?

Styles make fights and IMHO, Helenius would destroy Price.
Re: Your ideal route to a Klitschko for David Price
He dont need Chisora..just another bumster along the way....helenius he would k.o....lets face it ,we all wanna see him v Fury , no-one else ...so lets get it on....as for the Klits...are people running scared or what...theyve fought every bum going , theres nobody else coming through , so why not , theyre getting older now , a young fresh face is what the division needs right now....
Re: Your ideal route to a Klitschko for David Price
Why is Chisora suddenly a stepping stone? He batterd Helenious, Refs and judges hate him. at the moment if Price thought Delboy id call it a 50/50 fight, Prices best win so far is Audley at the moment. Yes he is very skilled but Chisora is not just a stepping stone.soulboy wrote:He dont need Chisora..just another bumster along the way....helenius he would k.o....lets face it ,we all wanna see him v Fury , no-one else ...so lets get it on....as for the Klits...are people running scared or what...theyve fought every bum going , theres nobody else coming through , so why not , theyre getting older now , a young fresh face is what the division needs right now....
Re: Your ideal route to a Klitschko for David Price
Between them, Wlad and Vitali will fight no more than five more times in total. There will be three fights next year and two in 2014 and then that will be that, I expect. Price and Fury, if they want to box the Klitschkos, will have to work around this. Vitali might fight once, possibly twice, more and Wlad will fight three or four more times.

After defending the Lonsdale belt one more time....
He needs to fight Fury, there's nothing much else there to say
Fury (rumor has it) is going to fight in New York on March 17th, and it very well could be Adamek.
It makes sense for Fury, if he does, because if he defeats Adamek (who beat Arreola) there is no point in fighting the winner of Arreola/Stiverne, he can just bypass that and fight Vitali Klitschko.
Price is still two-three steps behind Fury to get a title shot himself, but in order to get it he must defeat Fury (imho) or he needs to fight Thompson and Helenius, else I don't see him getting it if he doesn't fight Fury.

These fights are unrealistic. I understand you plotting the 'ideal' path but it just never works out like that, there's way more chance of him beating Thompson but then not being able to line up the conveniently increasing challenges in the ideal way and regressing and having to fight Paulo Vidoz or something before he suddenly gets a call from a Klit and has to take the fight.
Ie, what happened after the Chisora fight for Fury, minus the Klit part.

Surely the ideal route to a Klitschko would be the easiest way. Thus fight him next.

my thoughts entirely, and i have always said that, helenius puts price away in style and the bubble will be burst.keithmoonhangover wrote:Styles make fights and IMHO, Helenius would destroy Price.
Re: Your ideal route to a Klitschko for David Price
Chisora will not fight price in a million years. Reason being~
1 No British licence
2 They are mates
3 Why would Chisora put himself in such a tough fight after loosing 3 of the last 4?
4 Del knows deep down that price would be way to good for him especially at the this moment in his career. And that another loss would be the end of his career and make his record laughable.
When Chisora is ready to come back he'll be brought back the warren way. Building him back up getting at least 4 wins before stepping in with someone like price.
It would be career suicide!

chisora trying to fight fury when he was 27 stone 12 lbs was career suicide. del boy has overachieved in his career as far as im concerned, amazing what half a dig and a decent chin can do!!IronLiver wrote:Chisora will not fight price in a million years. Reason being~

Or frank maloney is thinking of waiting for the brothers to go away and licking his lips at how much of a cash cow he will turn price into.
Re: Your ideal route to a Klitschko for David Price
That's why I used the word "ideal" in the title to the thread. The reason I made this thread is because lots of people are calling for Price to fight Klitschko in Summer/Autumn next year which I think is too soon and I was debating which fights would be the best for him in preparation for a Klitschko. I also don't think they are entirely unrealistic.Riddick Blowe wrote:These fights are unrealistic. Re: Your ideal route to a Klitschko for David Price
Yes but then his chances of winning would be much reduced. The fights I proposed would be great learning and preparatory fights and each would be a gradual step up.jameswilson wrote:Surely the ideal route to a Klitschko would be the easiest way. Thus fight him next.

I wouldn't be worried at all from an atmosphere point of view of anyone fighting in the Klitchko's back yard. German boxing fans do not make an atmosphere so its not intimidating. If you mean from the pov of the occasion getting to him of fighting in front of 40,000 or whatever then year I can agree. But in terms of fighting against Klitchko's in Germany I wouldn't be worried about the atmosphere and with Germany being so close its not like you need to be out there in camp for ages either.
Re: Your ideal route to a Klitschko for David Price
If I were HS, I'd stay well clear of the States if the chief architect of Fury's recent and considerable improvements in training and in the ring could not make the trip, for whatever reason. It would turn any progression fight into a huge banana skin.HomicideHenry wrote:Fury (rumor has it) is going to fight in New York on March 17th, and it very well could be Adamek

Whos he actually beat? Sam sexton and danny williams?
Hes lost 4 of his last 5, hes a stepping stone at best.
Lazy Lazy Lazy in my opinion.

Re: Your ideal route to a Klitschko for David Price
Chisora's an excellent boxer IMO, I just wish he'd have turned up in proper shape against Fury (despite Wlads pullouts) I think it would've been a very different story, but it's all coulda, woulda, shoulda now
He clearly beat Helenius.
He gave Vitali his toughest fight since Lennox.
He got stopped by Haye in an excellent fight, but he was in the fight throughout and Haye would've been in trouble in the second of that fight
He's been mixing in excellent class and being competitive at worst
Anybody know what's going on with him at the mo, got nowt lined up
