Gary's trainer, Laurie Redfern I think it is, stated that they'd been in talks to make the fight previously but talks stalled. Presumably because Big John was scheduled to fight Dillian Whyte.

A definite step too far, too soon for Gary. He should stick to the PTS decisions over cruiserweight journeymen.

sometimes the fighters cant win can they, folk complain that they dont step it up ,but when there is a possibility that they do ,folk still criticise them

Personally i would step him up after another few more fights,what folk seem to forget to mention on here is that the laddie only had about 9 am fights so didnt have much of that experience,now if you look at the current crop of hw's they will have more am experience proberly than gary, so i can see why there taking there time .

as for ali adams for opponet, i take it you dont know he was caught doing peds adter his last fight against aud. . .

I don't think that was me criticising Gary, Alba.

I know he's had a very limited amateur career, as he does get good exposure in the North of Scotland through the papers.

Gary would benefit heavily from sparring with some top heavyweight/cruiserweights in the opening half of next year.

No - and the fact the fights were only 5 weeks apart should highlight the error.

The scales at the Price weigh-in were tampered with by unknown persons. Before and after McDermott weighed in at 253-255 on different sets of scales.

But sooner or later he has got to step up to 8 round fights soon against blokes who will give something to think about and not fighters who there to spend six threes eating his jab.

sorry to point out but 7 out of 11 of Gary's fights have been against Cruiserweight journeymen.He didn't have much amatuer experience wheras Ian Lewison beat Robert Helenius and Odlanier Solis in the amatuers in addition to losing a contested decision to David Price in the ABA Super heavyweight final,so suggesting a fight with Ian Lewison at this stage of his development is a little premature IMO.I think he would get KO'd if he took on Lewison right now.

Do you know when and at which events Lewison beat Helenius and Solis?
