I know, fair play to the lad but I can't believe over half (as I write) pick Yafai.

I know he's only had 6 fights but its fairly obvious which direction he is heading! He is likely to be the only lad at Mcdonnells level On The domestic scene over the next year or so.

Yafai wont be fighting Mcdonnell any time soon. The likes of Hall, Wale are more likely.

X2.

And I'll tell you something else, Hall won't be a walkover by any stretch of the imagination. I'd have it not a million miles from 50/50 at this stage of their careers.

McDonnell will be fighting for a vacant world title some time next year. Yafai should fight Wale, Ward then Hall and see where he is at after that. There is a difference between coming a world champion and being a unified world champ, if they they do it right Yafai will be the latter.

Did I dream this or did I see Haskins rated above McD on Sky at the weekend?

And believe me, Stuey would be well up for it.

I'd well believe it. Can't believe how quickly his stock has fallen on here. Quite a few thought he'd be to strong for Jamie.

Too early to be comparing the two I know that Jamie put yafai to sleep in sparring a couple of years back too

No reason for this fight to happen any time soon, no chance for at least 18 months you'd have to say. Yafai has only had 6 fights and Jamie is on course for a world title. Talk about jumping the gun!

At this moment in time, I would strongly favour McDonnell.

Yafai is good now, but he will get better in the future. This is not a fight for 2012 - nor for 2013 for that matter.

I agree way too early for yafai to get in with Jamie.. He is a cracking little prospect though I've loved watching him so far but when Jamie ko'ed him in sparring it was an heavy one

Watching Yafai it would appear obvious that he has improved considerably since he was an amateur a couple of years ago. It could be argued that what happens in the gym should stay in the gym. Nobody has been posting about what happened to McDonnell after his last fight have they?

It's all gossip among busy bodies anyway; people get clocked all the time especially when one fighter is more mature/experienced. McDonnell is a good prospect and doing fantastic, he has great fitness and is game, He'll take some outboxing but I'm not convinced he will be a good world champ - Yafai looks very good indeed and has poise and power - we'll have to see if he can get up there but he looks a class act.

Jamie won it fair and square but it was a close one and Stuey's only other loss was another top fighter in Haskins, he hammered Wale last time out, won every round and has hunger that i haven't seen before in him.

We will see what happens i guess but macdonnell would be too good i think at this stage for Kal, Hall v Kal however i would love to see, and i would be there for sure :TU:

Kal "Left Hook" Yafai's definitely a special talent, but it's abit of a stab in the dark to pick him over McDonnell at this stage. McDonnells a quality operator

McDonnell would pick him off over the 12 rounds. By Yafai's own admission he took a fair few shots that he shouldn't have from Perez and McDonnell would make him pay for opening up.

Mouth watering prospect for a couple of years time though!

It's not gonna happen anytime soon but would certainly be an interesting match up down the line - At this stage Jamie McDonnell would alomost certainly box his way to a wide points win as Yafai doesn't move his head enough when trying to get his own shots off.

I do like the look of Kal Yafai though - Good power and shot selection and looks like he can go far in the bantemweight division.

Thats sparring, not the real thing. Some fighters need the nerves of the 'fight' to perform and many a top fighter have been beat up in sprring by fighters less than them. Lets not forget that Yafai would have been a lot less mature then and being an amatuer boxer with McDonnell being a pro, yes? By coming here and saying more than once what supposedly happened in a spar shows your class....Or lack off

come on mate it wasn't meant in a derogatory fashion, he just stated what happened, of course he was a different fighter then.
Question for you though, do you think Kal could beat Jamie mac right now? I think people are getting a bit carried away if they do. He's getting there but let him have a few more fights before we judge.

Puts me in mind of the Cruiser who knocked the Heavy down in sparring, both former British champions but neither are great. However, in a fight, the HW would send him into next week. Sparring, is, well, sparing. Learn the lesson and move on :TU:
