I don't think the show boating was very offencisive your a showman and you was enjoying yourself you show plenty of respect especially seeing your opponent in the changing rooms afterwards nice sportsmanship credit to you mate and well done!! He is tough as old boots "head of stone" instead of "hands of stone" and I'm sure he didn't feel like you showed a lack of respect even thou you can see we're the writer is coming from!! Keep it up champ in the making

Writer is just a bit old school, that kind of style will always divide some opinion. I'm happy enough with it to be fair...

And can understand as not nice to be mocked whilst fighting but he is a showman and it's also. Tactic used by fighters to make fighters emotional, make mistakes etc just is part of the sport used by Duran, Leonard etc he defo a gentleman nice to see him go outta his way to vist Abdul and praise his durability!! :TU:

I think a bit of it was to try and get Abdul to lead off.. A fighter is more vulnerable when throwing punches.. I have seen thousands of boxing fights and Abdul Rashid has got to be the toughest guy I've seen.. The writer has said about not being heavy handed that's the furthest from the truth and I'm sure Abdul and all Ronnie's opponents would say how hard he hits.. Abdul has had a lot of amateur fights and 7 pro I believe and that's the first time he has been down.. As I said on the other thread I believe the ref should have stopped the fight but that's just because Abdul didn't need to keep taking that punishment.. But like the Warrior he is he did :)

Ronnie, well done for coming on here and apologising- it takes a big man to do that. But I'm sorry to say you needed to apologise. I remember at one point you extended both arms out to the side, and then twisted your body as if you had a broom shaft fixed across your back and hit your opponent with the inside of your left and right glove clearly making a fool of him. On another occasion you let your left arm rotate like a windmill simply making a fool of him again ,and your fans , most of whom I reckon don't know anything about boxing , loved it .
Your better than I thought you were and might even win the British title at some point, but you don't have the power to go much further. You hit that guy with everything and couldn't stop him , and I think this was his first fight in a year.
I hope you prove me wrong.

Ah don't worry, Ronnie. If you were an arse, you wouldn't have started this thread. I'm sure Tom (the writer) would say the same.

that is pretty disrespectful way to treat an opponent, if you want to put a show on use blistering handspeed, good footmovement and make your opponent miss, that is the best way to entertain.... not acting up

but he has apologised so fair enough ...

Most people at a boxing show attending dont know much about boxing and attend to support there local fighter. In my opinion he has no reason to say sorry. All this crap about selling tickets and if you dont you dont get a fight. People want to be entertained . Ronnie put on a show and is a gentleman outside the ring. anyone who knows him will back that up but inside he wants to knock you out. Boxing is often compared to a game of chess with tactics to bring people into a fight. His power is in no doubt the boy was a hard guy and took alot and deserves alot of credit:)

Bottom line he didn't insult his opponent he was more than respectful too him.. And Abdul has joined the fan page and has said he is a gentleman. Sometimes in a fight you have to encourage a guy to throw. Punches that's really what he was doing.. Having a bit of fun as well we cheered the punches and how quick he was. We also clapped Abdul into and out of the ring

mate he may be a gentleman outside the ring, and we have no reason to doubt ,but dosent mean you cant show some respect to his opponent (as its been reported) as i pointed out there are other ,better ways to entertain punters Jamie mate :TU:

He did, People who were there will tell you, he was fast, strong and his reflexes were entertaining. but end of day people come to see characters, its not all about boxing. Naseem Hamed, Mike Tyson, David Haye muhammed ali, They are all personalities in there own right but people were intrigued by it. He showboated a bit and is a character. Shouldnt need to say sorry for it. Very petty:)

i hope you never change ronnie, and youve nothing to apologise for, every post written complimented the guy abdul, and rightly so,hes as tough as teak,im just one of the so called fans who mabye doesnt know too much about boxing as someone posted above, but i do know youre a character, and youve made the people in dundee start talking about boxing again, thanks to you and youre brothers youre fan base is growing every week, theres nothing wrong with showboating when you step in that ring.and im sure if anyone asked any of youre opponents what they thought of you as a person outside the ring, each one would say youre a gentleman, ive seen 1st hand the amount of work you do to help others, especially the young lads at our club, youre a total professional and a great role model for young boxers to look upto, and i was proud to be a part of youre travelling support on saturday,me and my young lad had a ball with all youre supporters on saturday, there were no trouble makers etc, just a load of noisy dundonians who sung for ya throughout the fight, and who also gave abdul a well deserved cheer once the fight was over, thats what boxing to me is all about, ali, sugar ray and then theres the shark, keep up the good work, cant wait til the next one :TU:

What a load of guff! So its showing lack of respect to have a bit of showboating? Haha. At the start of the fight you touch gloves and at the end of the fight you touch gloves. It doesn't matter what happens inbetween that. Do what the hell you want. The king of journeymen Johny Greaves does this all the time yet he gets praised and told its entertainment yet when an unbeaten prospect does it he gets a bad write up? What a load of bull.

It's all about opinions. Some think it was fine; some don't (not just the writer).

There are, of course, quite different reasons behind Johnny doing a bit of messing about and a winning fighter who is well in control. I'm not knocking Ronnie because I haven't seen it...

Tony Lindie generally would put Ronnie in the ring with anyone. That is a fact. They did have a fight lined up with unbeaten Ryan Collins but he was pulled out the fight for whatever reason. Ronnie can only fight whos in front of him. As for his showboating style Ronnie has done this since his kickboxing days and the opposition doesnt matter. Ronnie can adapt the way he fights and every fight he fight diferent. The man in question clearly hasnt taken offence to it as since the fight he has been in contact with Ronnie and spoken to many fans.

We know. He just did. As for the showboating, I've got no problem with it whatsoever but Ronnie may find it harder to "perform" against someone who provides more of a challenge.
