Re: George Groves "Next time I'll beat James DeGale even better"
It will be interesting to see how they both develop over the next year.
Re: George Groves "Next time I'll beat James DeGale even better"
Degale started off very well when he turned pro and he really devloped quickly, and IMO started off a lot better than Groves. But I have to say watching Groves and Degals in their last few fights since theyr fought I really would say Groves is definitely the better fighter now and would fancy him doing a number on Degale.
Started to really like Ginger George now.

I like George but I don't see him fighting Degale again. I see him picking up the WBO and making low key defences against guys magically catapulted up the rankings. Degale will try to work towards a shot at the vacant WBC belt when Andre Ward decides to have a pop at light heavy and vacates.

DeGale is a better fighter with greater talent. Groves has more brain cells though and uses them to good effect. imo DeGale has the capactiy though to reach a level above what Groves can reach. I'd start by reccomending a better trainer & team for James.
Re: George Groves "Next time I'll beat James DeGale even better"
Groves would make a decent headliner on channel 5 and a rematch with degale would draw in big numbers if promoted right. Groves fighting old man johnson does nothing for me i doubt i will be tuning in

I blame George Groves.
Re: George Groves "Next time I'll beat James DeGale even better"
I'd fancy Groves to beat him again if they fought. I haven't been impressed with Degale since the Groves fight. He's too easy to hit and doesn't have great power either. I see him getting knocked out if he steps up to world level.

Groves is a better fighter. DeGale has a style which suggests he is a better boxer although he has yet to prove it since turning over.desperados wrote:DeGale is a better fighter with greater talent. They have a similar amount of talent overall.
It's a shame Groves has had his injury problems as he could have already have challenged for a world title strap if he had remained fit.
Re: George Groves "Next time I'll beat James DeGale even better"
Nothing between them but Groves does seem to have really improved. To me it seems his punching technique has vastly improved.
Sometimes I feel DeGale gets too involved…makes harder work of it than need be. He often ends up trading on the inside and taking shots he doesn’t need to…but saying that DeGale seems a hard bastard…very strong mentally.
I’d like to see James keep people on the end of his jab more.
Both are quality. The rematch will be promoted as another hate fight. But I hope at some point in their careers they can show one another a bit of respect.

Re: George Groves "Next time I'll beat James DeGale even better"
They are both class but Groves seems bigger, stronger and more powerful at the weight. DeGale is sometimes superb but will get caught aganst the ropes if he keeps going there. I'd like to see DeGale v Anderson to see how he can cope with a strong ambitious fighter. I think Groves can stop Johnson tomorrow, he is hitting very hard and Johnson had enough with the sport his last fight. (No way on earth that Froch beats them both the same night, hope Carl keeps his feet on the floor when his head is in the sky).
Re: George Groves "Next time I'll beat James DeGale even better"
Nice to see that loss to Groves shut Degale and his cheerleader up. Now he's all nicey nice. Not a word from Jim too. That's what happens when you get too big for your boots.
Re: George Groves "Next time I'll beat James DeGale even better"
What happens? becoming European champ in your next fight? We all make mistakes and sometimes a kick up the arse helps correct them. Nothing wrong with that.Eddy wrote:Nice to see that loss to Groves shut Degale and his cheerleader up. Now he's all nicey nice. Not a word from Jim too. Good judgment comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgment.
Re: George Groves "Next time I'll beat James DeGale even better"
Groves enjoyed some great exposure after edging Degale.
But what since ? F*ck all really. A fight with Smith and some unknown on an American undercard in 18 months.
Meanwhile Degale has got the European title, had twice the fights and two have been on terrestrial television. He will be out a bunch of times next year too.
Meanwhile Groves will beat an old Johnson and then will prob fight again next summer in front of a TV audience of hundreds.
I picked Groves to win the first fight. Not so sure in the rematch with so much inactivity.

Yeah i thought the same thing however before they fought i did think maybe groves had his number. I dont think degale is operating anywhere near his potential yet and groves is improving drastically so the next couple of years could be interesting. Degals weakness is definitely his power.TopGun wrote:Degale started off very well when he turned pro and he really devloped quickly, and IMO started off a lot better than Groves. Word for word agree with this. Well, Degale instead of Degals, but apart from that I'm in.TopGun wrote:Degale started off very well when he turned pro and he really devloped quickly, and IMO started off a lot better than Groves.
