after 9 pro fights and a very creditable am career - joe awome, the very popular woking heavy packed it in. most people know something about his life after boxing, but why did he quit so early into a fairly promising pro career? when he kept his head and jabbed sensibly he looked a good prospect. with good advice he may have made british champ.

Same thing with Clay Hodges, excellent amateur career (George Foreman couldnt beat him) and had a few wins as a pro, then up and quit after getting his jaw broken.

i can see that, but with better coaching for the pro ranks..who knows? however, managing the special aka must have earnt him a little bit.
