Patrick Mendy v 17-0 Patrick Nielsen - WBA I/C title

Post by turbostar »

12 rounds in Denmark on February 9.

Nielsen is only 21 and is being hyped up over there as Kessler's successor, you would expect him to win this.

If he's motivated Patrick Mendy can be a handfull for anyone, but sadly he never seems to bring his gym form to the ring

Nielsen physically resembles Kessler, but I've seen nothing to suggest that he will become an elite SMW like Kessler is, or even a world class SMW.

Nielsen will probably win, but a highly competitive fight wouldn't surprise me; in his last bout he struggled significantly against an opponent who is probably no better than Mendy.

Nielsen is pure entertainment to watch, but he is no Mikkell Kessler that is for damn sure

Have to agree seen Nielsen a few times & he is very entertaining to watch. He has cropped up on a few BN shows.
As good as Kessler? Not a chance but I have been proved wrong in the past.

If Mendy is on form this is a good fight. Neilsen is an entertaining fighter but majorly overated. Still expect him to win but Mendy is a talented boxer in his own right.

Winner to face Brian Magee?

Nielsen would not be ready for Magee. the dude is only 21. He may already have had 17 pro fights, and ive seen almost all, and it doesnt seem like he is gettin any better ! And he has no big armeteur carreer so not much experience there either. There is big potential in him, but saurland needs to slow down on nielsen, or else hes going to get wacked sooner than later !

anyone else watching this bill tonight?

Deion Jumah just been on, won on points. Was trying a bit to hard for the KO, it being only his 2nd fight, he can be forgiven for that. But only weighing 193lbs he seemed small , he might have that problem of not being able to make light-heavy, but too small at cruiser.
He's got good backing, and will start to learn as he seemed a bit disjointed tonight after the first couple of rounds, footwork needs looking at for me.

I agree Ian. Maybe it was the 2 fights in 2 weeks but he certainly looked a bit flat against a limited opponent.
