Froch said: "My promoter Eddie Hearn is working very hard, he is talking to Team Sauerland who are Mikkel Kessler's promoters and it sounded very, very promising. They are very close to doing a deal. It looks like the fight may be done by late Spring this year. That is a big, big fight that everybody wants to see so I am looking forward to getting it on.

Seems like May 2013 is gonna be around about when this comes off judging from all the recent interviews with Froch and Eddie Hearn.

Re: Froch to face Kessler next?
Think Froch is better now in his mindset than he was previously. I see a fast start this time with him putting it on Kessler from the bell. There will be a war for a few rounds, but Froch will take him apart inside of 9 rounds, possibly sooner.
Kessler has not looked the same fighter since their first fight, whilst Froch looks to be at his peak.

be fair to Kessler, he smashed Magee up far quicker than either Froch or Bute managed......

Re: Froch to face Kessler next?
I think it will be a war along the same lines as the first, neither move fluidly or have morphed into slick defensive genius's since the last and both are durable with the power to 'hurt' the other. Great fight again.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Think Froch is better now in his mindset than he was previously. I see a fast start this time with him putting it on Kessler from the bell. errrrr......how many years after Carl beat him exactly? Carl was still a young contender when he faced Magee, who was the more experienced man. Magee was a long way past his best by the time Kessler got his hands on him.

It's a great match-up. I haven't got a clue who'll win.

I don't know if you could say Magee was past his best, he was on a good run of wins and some people thought Kessler was on the slide.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Counter-puncher wrote:jamesmcdonnell wrote:

@Datsue, like clockwork I was expecting that picture. People still don't get it. Kessler has a very good chance of wining this fight. Lets see if Froch has a better plan for stopping those bodyshots this time round
Re: Froch to face Kessler next?
You'd like to think he has re-watched the fight several times since. Not in a Ricky Hatton type way, but in an analytical way. He still doesn't feel he lost so I hope that doesn't mean he thinks he has nothing to adjust second time round.
I would expect him to put more of a two-fisted attack together and put Kessler under the sort of pressure that Bute folded under.

mm, whereas Carl is clearly at his peak having disposed of the fearsome Mack, now there is a formline to be afraid of.
battering Magee with ease > battering Mack with ease

Re: Froch to face Kessler next?
That's exactly my thoughts - he just didn't put Kessler under enough sustained pressure from the start last time. He's been starting far quicker in fights since the Super Six series taught him a few lessons. NOBODY expected him to batter Bute like that - he came out firing and sustained in.orbtastic wrote:You'd like to think he has re-watched the fight several times since. I think Froch is a better fighter now than the one who fought Kessler - he has learnt some hard lessons by fighting at the very top of the sport against the very best.
I'll be lumping money on a froch late stoppage or UD. Kessler is a tough man, so a stoppage just may not be achievable.
However long it lasts, it's sure to be a great contest because Kessler will go the the trenches and we know Carl will.

Re: Froch to face Kessler next?
Exactly. If Kessler has anything left, I bet you his (under-rated) corner has come up with a better plan this time round, too. They engineered that fight really well with the reserves Mikkel had left; they judged it perfectly. Carl's gonna try & put it on him. It's gonna be a war & both of them is gonna be hurting in the morning...lefthook82 wrote:@Datsue, like clockwork I was expecting that picture. People still don't get it. Thinking about it James, Kessler has not looked the same fighter since the Calzaghe fight. & he still had enough left to beat Carl last time.
S'gonna be a great one, again. Can't wait.
