Charley Purdy

Post by patron »

i was looking up the record of Charley Purdy[NZ lightweight 1920,s 30,s]he fought one of my uncles, and i saw that in 1926 he had 16 fights, 13 of them were 15 rounders, 3 were 10,s,all bar one going the distance, i had the pleasure of meeting Charley in the early 70,s he had a pool room on Parramatta Rd Petersham, and his speech and manner showed no signs of him being a fighter ,and up there with the best, he was also an Olympian .how did he get time to train, most of the boys think 4 fights a year is plenty. all the best :salut:

Geez patron. He probably didn't have to train to hard with all that match fitness.

You wouldn't call him a knockout specialist.
