an awesome experience on fight night - you are going to have 50000 Argentinians
jumping to 'el no salta que Ingles' for 12 rounds, an electric atmosphere. Any questions
about Buenos Aires in general then drop them on here.
No? You would be missing out on a great place and friendly people though fight nightchiggsy wrote:eff THAT

I agree that the Falklands aren't and shouldn't be (and one day won't be) British but I have
changed my opinion that Argentina should have them. I think these days that the Falklanders,
who have lived there for 180 years should have their own independence and be allowed
to develop the place and become an integral part of the South American economic and
cultural community where - in my opinion - it will flourish.
Not that anyone will mention about the Falklands/Malvinas when you are there - when they
find out you are English, it will be like you have made their day.'Ah ingles? My frieeeeeeend
I love the Rolling Stones/Oasis/Los Beatles/Michael Owen etc' it is a place where taxi drivers
round down the cab fare in your favour, where nightclub bouncers smile and wave you into
the club gently, where there are beautiful women everywhere and the smell of steak and pizza.
However, I will say that on fight night, it will be dodgy as eff and the very small minority who hate you for just breathing will be there in force (It looks like it is going to be held at the Velez Sarisfield stadium - Estadio José Amalfitani) It will be packed full of Malvinas veterans, Barras Bravas and many more dodgy unsavoury characters and if Murray beats Martinez - will make Minter- Hagler look like a chimps tea party, when you are at the fight - be careful and watch yourself.
The Argentinian nickname for the English is 'Pirata' as can be seen in the Argentinian version of 'The Sun' newspaper 'Cronica'
http://www.cronica.com.ar/buscador.php?q=pirata
Strangely enough. They haven't called Murray a 'Pirata' just 'los Ingles'
I would love to go to Argentina anyway, looks a great country. But the fact is i don't have £2 never mind 2 grandFat Git wrote:Old bones Ian wrote:I'm willing to go if someone wants to pay for me
Two grand is a pretty good deal though for two to three weeks in South America, it will
be autumn down there in April and it will be beautiful weather.
Outside of the fight is going to be fine - in fact enjoyable. Argentinians tend to be veryWales wrote:Isnt there a vote on the falklands a few weeks before? Will tensions in the run upmto the fight not be charged?

Good post Hurlock!hurlock wrote:I think it was recently 30 years anniversary of the Falklands so any bravado & waving union jacks about there would prob make Belfast look like Disney land!
All this we beat them rubbish most wars boil down to finance not who the best soldiers are! They are both carrying out orders & got family's to provide for.
I don't do all the patriotic rubbish as most Brits show the country up & I take people as I find them not over a flag. I hate enough people who neighbour me!
Infairness you fanned the flames of nationalism with this thread and some of your posts. The way things are going without the Falklands we're going to be paying an exuberant amount for petrol. What will you say then?? When I worked for a the most profitble travel company I. The world the owner urged us to go see Alaska sooner rather than later as with the way oil prices are going its only a matter of time before they drill there and Antarctica.Fat Git wrote:And the people who 'kicked their ass' live in daily torment with the 302nd British Falklands veteranDirk Kelly wrote: Personally Like having a pop at the Argies, some twat tried to have a go in the MGM last time I was in Vegas. taking his own life just the other week.
Next time, you and the other Brit flag wavers can go down there and fight it out with like minded Argentinians.
This is a boxing match, not the battle of Goose Green.
May the best man win, I hope it is Murray but looking forward to a great fight with an
electric atmosphere.

On boxing we are due a win, he's beaten a hell of a lot of our fighters!!
Also think there is nothing wrong in a bit of pride in the fact we kicked some ass many years ago when they had a big head start.
