Who will be flying out to see the Martin Murray fight? That is going to be
an awesome experience on fight night - you are going to have 50000 Argentinians
jumping to 'el no salta que Ingles' for 12 rounds, an electric atmosphere. Any questions

The Falkland Islands are English!!

Flights with Air France are pretty cheap - for a return you'll pay around 600-700 quid via Paris.
You can get a nice no frills hotel room for about 20-30 quid a night downtown.

A steak sandwich (with proper beef) chips, salad and a beer is about 2-3 quid. Your pound
goes a long way there. Loads of coffee shops, bars, steak places (called Parillas) nightclubs.

All in all - you could do it all for around 2 grand including flights, hotels, tickets, food and drink
and other fun stuff.

I agree that the Falklands aren't and shouldn't be (and one day won't be) British but I have
changed my opinion that Argentina should have them. I think these days that the Falklanders,

However, I will say that on fight night, it will be dodgy as fornicate and the very small minority who hate you for just breathing will be there in force (It looks like it is going to be held at the Velez Sarisfield stadium - Estadio José Amalfitani) It will be packed full of Malvinas veterans, Barras Bravas and many more dodgy unsavoury characters and if Murray beats Martinez - will make Minter- Hagler look like a chimps tea party, when you are at the fight - be careful and watch yourself.

The Argentinian nickname for the English is 'Pirata' as can be seen in the Argentinian version of 'The Sun' newspaper 'Cronica'

Finally someone who agrees with me on this issue.... Most people I talk to are blinded by the Falklands war or just dont no the history.

Outside of the fight is going to be fine - in fact enjoyable. Argentinians tend to be very
respectful of Britain - a well known utterance is 'If the British had got here before the
Spanish we would be like Australia' the vast majority of people are not going to take
it out on anyone who is British whatever they think of the Falklands or that a referendum is taking place . It just isn't the way they roll.

At the fight - people need to be careful, the hard of thinking Argentinians who hate
the British (and these people do exist) will be there in force, all their christmases have
come at once that an Englishman will be fighting on their turf.

The Falklands debate is something I know little about. What's everyone's view?

What I've been told is that the Argies historically kick up a fuss every ten or twenty years and the uk quietly sends an armada down there to shut them up, the only time we didn't do this was when there was an election to be won - is that right or wrong???

The battle was fierce and intense often hand to hand combat, is that true?

I think like Gibraltar the Falklands is of strategic importance to the uk for the time, when, not if we start drialing for oil in Antarctica.

I've got an uncle inLaw who's high up in the navy who recogns we were not far off defeat in the last co conflict. Apprently we were one runway a d ship away from being beat. He sYs we have no capabilities to defend the Falklands anymore should they invade, including a ship like the QE2.

Personally Like having a pop at the Argies, some twat tried to have a go in the MGM last time I was in Vegas. I urged him to come ahead as he had weeks head start last time and we still kicked his ass....

I think it was recently 30 years anniversary of the Falklands so any bravado & waving union jacks about there would prob make Belfast look like Disney land!

All this we beat them rubbish most wars boil down to finance not who the best soldiers are! They are both carrying out orders & got family's to provide for.

I don't do all the patriotic rubbish as most Brits show the country up & I take people as I find them not over a flag. I hate enough people who neighbour me!

What will you say then?? When I worked for a the most profitble travel company I. The world the owner urged us to go see Alaska sooner rather than later as with the way oil prices are going its only a matter of time before they drill there and Antarctica.

I haven't fanned any flames of nationalism at all. Simply put - I am for an independent Falklands and that anyone who goes to Argentina will have a nice time. What I don't do is take credit (using we) for wars I didn't fight in as it is very disrespectful to the men who fought in the said wars and are suffering today - you are not suffering from any of the ailments affecting Falklands war veterans today so please refrain from using 'we'.

What will I say to more expensive petrol? I will say nothing, secondly, that is no reason to colonise places, it is very 19th century, you probably thought the invasion of Iraq was a good idea so you can get your hands on that cheap oil.

Why did you feel pride for this country beating a third world dictatorship and an army of conscripts, again - you never took part - or were you the drummer boy? (ref: Michael Douglas, Falling Down - 1992)

NB: Britain was right to fight the brutal fascist dictatorship who invaded the Falklands who during their reign of power threw innocent people out of planes into the Atlantic ocean. However, 19th century colonialism cannot last forever. Time to move on and let those people in the south atlantic have their freedom. Or else there will always be that threat from Argentina.

As a soldier who served in the falklands (not in the war i might add) i feel that it should be down to the islanders as to who 'owns' them. personally i know they will vote britain, without question. the ancient history of the islands would suggest that they are agentinian. but the world is full of places with questionable history etc... Northern Cyprus being another one (i was born and married in cyprus).
