Post by 15829 »

In the corner of Rampage Jackson weird seeing him there, will that affect his trainers licence?

How would it, Rampage is a fighter who boxes more than most fighters. He rarely uses any other mma skills unless he is forced to.

Just because there not allowed to corner amateur or white collar fighter and him not using his MMA skills is why he's now a gatekeeper

He ws taken down end of first, and lucky teixeria didnt look for more. Easier said than done with Mr T against you mind. Being honest i was Just surprised to see Rimmer as his main cornerman. To be honest, if a british boxer was fighting at that level id be surprised if they switched to chose rimmer, let alone a ufc fighter. And thats no disrespect to rimmer either. Good trainer, nice guy, but world class boxing trainer (let alone mma). Also, when did he train ricky, as they kept saying?

He can probably argue that Rampage is a professional and probably will find a loophole in the rules. I may be wrong.

Way they were going on i expected to see billy graham there. Tenuous, but factually correct i guess.

He was Billy's assistant for years. He helped train Ricky until 2006. So not tenuous.

He's been with Brian rose and jack Arnfield since the start too ones a multiple champion and current Lonsdale belt holder and ones 15-0 fighting for his first title in march soo I'd say he's more than just a good trainer!

Im fully aware of bobbys resume adam, having interviewed many of his fighters, many times. Including brian rose from his debut, and the content of michael gomez' web site during his stint with bobby. I chatted to mike and bobby in depth after the johanesson fight in doncaster. And also interviewed mike during one of roses fights (during which he was shit actually) in altringham - sunday afternoon show - impossible to interview as he was jumping up and down like a loon.

What do you class him as then, "more than just a good trainer!" Rose is brit level, thats it. Arnfield the same. Hes not the best in the north west, let alone uk. However, My point wasnt against bobbys boxing training ability, it was more his overall credentials to be chief cornerman for one of the top UFC fighters in a crossroads fight. Perhaps someone will come on here and give us his mma background..

Bobby rimmer is a very knowledgeable boxing coach & if rampage wants to improve his stand up he won't go wrong with bobby.
Rampage is a top national wrestler & doesn't need anybody to teach him how to sprawl & keep the fight on his feet. Rimmer will give him a much better technique then he already has, which only adds to his game.cant really see the problem?

Errrrr.... Not quite, its 11 years (i think) since jackson won by submission, hes mainly a striker who had a good ground game until he stepped up in level. If anything its the other way around, his boxing good, his ground game poor.

Some hardcore ufc fans may tell me different though, im a casual fan, watch every one on espn but thats as far as i go.

The reason why Rampage is now a "gate keeper " as you so eloquently put it ,ent because he now boxes more ,its because hes done with to many miles on the clock and needs to retire asap.

He said in an interview beforehand he wishes he wouldve ditched mma years ago and boxed instead. He was taken to the ground on 3/4 occassions and never looked comfortable. Personally if my strength was stand up i'd want ground advice between rds. Altho i know hes been training in brazil on groundwork. Horses for courses.

You seem to have something against rose everytime he's mentioned you put his ability down want to enlighten us your beef, we'll see how far he can go in the coming months but I'm happy to put my money where my mouth is and bet he wins a title bigger than the British.. And as for Arnfield just being just British level how close to British level are you?

Im pretty sure that was Rampages last (contracted) fight in the ufc. And asfter his recent performances and bad mouthing of the ufc he wont be back. The UFC bent over backwards for him but like someone alluded to before, he cannot be arsed.

He gained his rep through big slams and some gnp in pride. He became too relaxed with the power in his hands and gradually relied on punching and countering more and more.

Anyway prior to the fight he stated that he is still looking into the option of boxing professionally which may explain Rimmer cornering.

So someone who isnt close to a britsh title lebvel cant have an opinion on whether a boxer is of that calibre.

As for your comment on me "putting rose down" - I have nothing at all against brian. never have. And exactly how many times have I "put him down" - once when you said he'd be a world title holder by the end of 2013. Yeah we'll see if "pen and paper boy" gets that right or not.
