Seen him a few times. He has a good workrate, but doesnt look very heavy handed. Fancy him to beat Speight though at Leeds town hall in a few weeks for the English title.

He already has that belt doesn't he, and is defending it?

was listening to that 606v2 podcast interview with Frank Maloney, and he reckons their next show after the JLD-Dolan bout will be a Leeds show in March - that is the only one listed on BoxRec schedule so would imagine that fight will be on Loaded, hopefully live.

heard decent things about him, quite popular in west yorkshire apparently

Josh is a good young boxer From Leeds with an excellent workrate , nice lad too.

He won the English title last time out, in his first real test , fighting as the away boxer in Dudley against Chris Male .
Male is a decent and more than capable boxer ,who likewise was unbeaten prior to that fight, but josh won convincingly with a solid performance.
It will be interesting to see how he develops in the next twelve months or so as he waits for a suitable opportunity to show his talent on a bigger stage. He's only just 22 so i assume there's no rush.

Headlining for the first time @ Leeds town hall In march when he defends his title, if local he's well worth getting behind and showing your support.

hasnt been tested u having a laugh he went away from home to fight an unbeatean fighter and they had an all out war for 10 hard rounds. josh won the fight in the first 5 rounds building a lead ( chris was slow out the blocks after 18 months out the ring ) the last 5 rounds were quality it wud hav been great on tv for both lads showing off there skills and conditioning. i know chris wants a couple of fights and a rematch, after their fight team warrington said it cud happen so hope they keep to their word ( but depending on british title maybe it wont which wud b understandable if selby beats lindsey and vacates josh is the mix) . must also say that i hav alot of respect for team warrington after the fight had a good chat and are great guys. hope josh beats speight and the rematch with chris gets made on tv #teammale

Josh boxed great to beat Male and almost stopped him in the 4th (i think) it was the first time I'd seem him box. He also seems to be a really nice lad with a good head on his shoulders and has a great team around him. If he's not the finished article yet he has a lot of potential. A very proud English Champ he was too...

@the-insider yeah he caught chris with a massive right hand in the 4th and piled the pressure on in the 4th but chris saw the round and traded with him. was a deserved victory for josh, i had it by the same score has his trainer and dad josh by 2 rounds. lots of close rounds but it was the right result on the night.
wud u like to see a rematch

For sure. It was a great contest and the fitness of both fighters was amazing. I certainly thought some ring rust was evident on Chris's part as he seemed stiff and his timing was off in the first few rounds but that's not taking anything away from Josh as he was a worthy winner. I had it Josh by 4 but as you say some rounds were close and subjective. Would certainly love to see a rematch.

alot of people wudnt know but chris was out the ring 18 months ( not taking anything away from josh at all) 2 fights with joe murray called off, one with jon fernandes and one with another lad which is along time how many fighters wud hav took that 50-50 fight wat chris did. we feel with a couple fights and some good solid rounds its a fight chris cud defo win and he defo wants a rematch. hope josh wins on the 22nd march

I said properly tested as it was his potential i was asking peoples opinion on .
No offence but even with the English title in the bag against whoever he will need much stiffer test to asscertain where he is capable of going .So dont jump down my throat this is a positive thread about a fighter i've seen a bit of who i will be looking to support in the future. OK

Fairplay to him we will be going to see his first defence seen a bit of Speight was'nt impressed if honest so expecting Josh to handle him fairly easily.
My brother said he seemed like a sound focused youth hope he continues to do good things in the sport.

well his last fight was against an unbeatean fighter for the english title not very often that happens ( josh 12-0 chris 11(2)-0) which shows the belief both lads in their ability to take the fight. u wont get many evenly matched fights like josh and chris at this stage of their careers to many fighters r overprotected i believe chris and josh cud mix it with the likes of selby lindsey smith and can certainly go on and win a british title imo. like i say wud love to see a rematch with chris at some stage wud to another great fight.

Leigh wood was quoted in todays Nottingham post newspaper as wanting to get a fight with Warrington later in the year .

Would be a good fight , ill not make a biased prediction that Leigh Would win it , as looking at his record hes not beat anyone of note yet , but he is a good boxer and will be in that mix .

Fair enough hats off to both fighters for taking the fight. Showing your hand too early can hold you back years or even rob you of your chance you can understand why many are protected dont agree with it but can understand it .

Maybe he will give him first crack at the British if he can win it though repeating tough fights how ever good to watch can shorten a career so who knows.

His back out 9th march in wolvo. The murray pull outs were sky pulled a show 10 days b4 the fight and second time chris dislocated his shoulder in last sparring session b4 the fight. Then wen he recovered the hattons wudnt give him a date and board made chris v fernandes which fell thru and then another kid then finally josh took the fight and it was a top fight. Was frustrating 18 months for him and it showed in the first 5 rounds against josh.
