Frazier by late stoppage 9 times out of 10, Mike gets him early once.

Always liked Tyson in this one and I was no fan of Iron Mike. Have felt that Tyson's 2-fisted assault would overcome Frazier's only big weapon, the left hook. Joe, a slow starter, might get decimated before he could establish any rythm. Obviously Frazier had more ticker than Tyson, and if the fight somehow did go rounds, Joe would eventually put him away. Tyson didn't handle adversity very well.
But I have to go with Tyson by a quick 2nd round k.o. He wasn't really that much greater than Frazier, but 2 quick, hardpunching fists, should extinguish Smokin' Joe rapidly.

Joe got up from about 100 knockdowns from Foreman, nobody is extinguishing him.

i hate to be the one to say this

these are two of the most exciting heavyweights in history

BUT BOTH ARE EXTREMELY OVER RATED IN THE ALL TIME CATEGORY

that being said.if they fought 10 times they would go 5 and 5 and both would
taste the canvas

Just a play one words. Extinguish. Smokin'. But I would say that Foreman extinguished Frazier. You knock somebody down 6 times in less than 2 rounds, that qualifies. Tyson would do the same.

Not likely, Tyson would get smacked in the mouth and backed off early on.

i dont think this is such a good fight for mike - joe is going to weather a tough first round and hurts tyson a couple of times in the process. mike doesnt fight well being pressured and frazier is a master pressure fighter. the left hook in its prime is an awesome bomb and tysons ears are stinging by the end of the 3rd. he's also beginning to doubt himself. he is still dangerous through the middle rounds and it really could go any way. frazier finds the big one though in round 9. an all time uncultured whackfest ends in victory for smokin joe frazier

The biggest issue for Mike is that, contrary to popular belief, he wasn't very good on the inside. Mike was at his best at mid-range and Frazier would never let him fight there.

It is easy for some to see Tyson blowing away Frazier like Foreman did (twice). Even I can see this happening. Or at least I could see it when I was younger - and I was in the 15th row when he knocked out Michael Spinks in Atlantic City. Not so any more.

Unless Tyson "brained" him with one shot, Joe would fight back and fight back hard like he did against Foreman both times, and against everyone else he ever fought. Unlike Foreman, however, Tyson didn't react well to tough guys that could actually mount an offense against him. He became a "grabber" and a "clutcher" when the leather really started flying. Especially against those with the actual intent to hurt him. He stopped being the bully when this happened.

Tyson actually took a shot very well, he just didn't have the heart to go past the type of pain and suffering that Frazier would (and like Holyfield did) against him.

Frazier by a late round stoppage with Tyson complaining to his corner that he couldn't see or that he broke his hand or some other way to back out of the fight without getting put away for real.

I don't think basing the outcome of this on the Foreman fights is particularly valid. Frazier wouldn't have great difficulty getting to the inside and staying there with Tyson imo and whilst there's a storm to be weathered early on I agree that Joe grinds him down and stops him late.

I think the issue of Tyson's heart (or lack of) can be overplayed in writing him off in a lot of mythical match-ups but I think it's a decisive factor here. Once past about the 4th, Frazier isn't going anywhere and Mike isn't getting any better.

Extreme Frazier fan here. I admit the first three rounds of this fight would scare the hell out of me and would hate to see what possibly could happen to Joe, especially in the first or second round. He was such a slow starter and Tyson was the opposite.

In fact, if I had ringside seats for this fight, I would stay on the outside of the building until a friend texts me that the third round is over and Joe is still in good shape. Then I would rush into the arena and watch Joe break Tyson's will and take him out in 8.

Mike would be all over Frazier in the early going, trying like hell to take him out. If Frazier's still standing at the end of the 3rd round (and he most likely would be) then Mike's f***ed. Joe will keep pressing in, working his body with lefts and rights and landing cracking left hooks to Tyson's head all night long before Mike finally crumbles in the 10th or 11th round.

It's one Frazier pick after another and Tyson continues to be the only fighter that gets votes.

I hadn't voted yet, just put one more in for Joe. I tend to skip the poll and just read the thread first with these things.
