Reading between the lines on here, The Eagle's camp (mcato) dont seem to want the Al Haribi fight. Its a shame as it could be a real moneyspinner, especially outdoors in the Yemen. As for the Carruthers fight, it will be a relatively comfortable win for Eric. People are overating Terry based on his Prizefighter exploits. He is tough and game but essentially still a journeyman.

Absolutely terrible, Terry is a brilliant kid, always gives it his all but come on, how can you keep defending a title against journeymen. Plenty more lads deserve a shot, Al-Harbi, Mansouri, Selkirk, O'Meara.

Can i just ask peoples definition of journy man because terry really gets the hump at this term.I think he always trying to win and fighting anyone anywhere kind of puts him out of this class.

Do wins over prospect nav mansouri and Peter vaughan count?

Does a draw with current commonwealth champion count?

Do dominent wins over former english champs with 25.2 records at the time count?

Does beating unbeaten prospect Steve Harkin away from count?

Does losing close decisions at short notice to fighters such as Brian Rose and chris eubank junior count?

Does losing disputed decision(boxing news reports hold this up) to guys like steve omeara, kreshnik quato and sam sheedy count?

Or is it a half and half record from fighting anyone anywhere with no notice that make a journyman.I think anyone who calls someone a journyman based on there record alone is very shortsighted.

So what for you makes a journeyman? What is yr criteria for this? Does being a prospect at home getting every advantage but losing when ever you step up or fight someone with a winning record mean yr a contender or just protected?

To be fair there are people who deserve the shot more but are they free for a defence do they mind signing options on a voluntary defence have they got other commitments?

Carruthers fights very hard and causes upsets he never come thinking i cant win ever and what does this make of the prospects who have been beaten by a journey man or champions who have sqeaked by the journeyman when hes had a few days notice?

Sorry for the rant but i have an idea what a journey man is and Terry carruthers does not fit that catagory.

Surely by the logic that it is records and nothing else that define somebodys status.Omeara lost clearly to someone who drew with the journeyman and got a dubious decision over the same guy(boxing news words not mine)Mansouri lost to the journeyman and drew with Dee Mitchell another guy with over 20 losses???Selkirk yep defo deserves it more agree there and al harbi is up for purse bids so why on earth would he agree to a voluntary defence?
I long for the days when yr actual results and will to win and willingness to fight defined who and what you were in the boxing game and not yr black and white record.

Jon obviously you don't like the fact that I've classed Terry has a Journeyman. So what is he mate ? He takes fights at short notice for money, and fights so called prospects on there own shows away from home. If that is not a journeyman then what is ? Like my post said, I like Terry he's a top lad and "ALWAYS GIVES IT HIS ALL" but in boxing like it or not you have journeymen who fight prospects at short notice to push them and learn the so called prospects and contenders there trade and thats what bracket Terry comes under mate, whether you like it or not, and thats no disrespect because without Journeymen the boxing game would suffer.
My problem is with these same handful of so called champions having 2 or 3 "Voluntary" defences while avoiding there mandatory's because of the relationships or politics they have with other promoters or managers, it's unfair on the lads working hard, keep chipping away and waiting for the chance they've earned and deserve, but that is not Terry's fault by any means and I most certainly didn't mean no disrespect to him or any fighter that comes in the "journeyman" bracket, you should know that Jon, and if I'm honest I hope Terry pulls it off.

Tel will give it his all and leave it in the ring. Terry in the past was a Journeyman, no doubt, but he seems to be realising his potential of late and really seems to have turned a corner in his career. I wouldn't class him as one now. Nice lad and I wish him all the best.

Is terry the same type of fighter as Kris laight or duncan cottier or jason nesbitt or billy smith lads who i consider good hardworking journymen? Do Journeymen get the type of results against good kids that Terry has. When did johnny nelson Steve Robinson chris saunders stop becoming journey men? Has Bradley Price become a Journeyman now as he fits that criteria.Boxing is about fighting and becoming better and if losses come learn from them its so easy to be put in a bracket because of a record.

There are prospects out there who are only prospects because they sit at home fighting guys with terrible records and winning yet when they step up to the type of fight where someone fights back they get beat every time. Are these guys any better than a journeyman just because they are managed very carefully?

Personnaly I class Terry as a gatekeeper or danger man as there are a lot of people who have booked him thinking hes a journeyman and came unstuck. He doesnt take fights for money at short notice ,He takes them because he beleives he can win and doesnt get anymore notice because people wont give him any notice.Does terry fight like someone who has taken a fight for money?

Sometimes lads cant sell tickets and wait for home fights. So you either go out on the road and test yrself and swallow losses and improve wile retaining ambition or remain waiting at home for the odd home fight while yr skills diminish and end up wondering what if, we have both seen a lot of these lads.I just hate the fact that people label some one with a real will to win ,who upsets a lot of these prospects with a tag they dont deserve.

Do you really class Terry the same as Pavel senkovs Kris laight beki moyo Jonny Greaves Peter Buckley Sid Razak?

Completely agree with this, as you will see from some of my older posts, i'm a massive fan of Terry, mainly based on how he lays it all on the line every time he goes in.

I suppose we will see, but watch the kind of shift he puts in against Ochieng, i doubt you will call it a 'journeyman' performance

I know that, so many of us want to see certain fights on a domestic level and we ask ourselves why don't these fights take place it can become very annoying. Things at Matchroom has also change as they have to deliver 20 shows in 12 months and my opinion is that they are still adjusting to this very non stop work effort along with looking after high profile boxers fighting abroad. It is tough with different tv deals and boxers with different promoters. If you ask Erick , I guess he wouldn't want to defend the English belt again but with Liam smith with another promoter and Brian Rose not sure about British title what can he do, its not in his hands. We have to be patience and all respect to Mr Carruthers a lovely guy and good sport who turns out for a war and gives value for money.
