Boxing shows

I have read a few threads on blue collar boxing, etc. I myself have heard tales from my father of events in London, promoted by east end legends, sporting ex-pros, ex-cons and fames hard guys.

We have the excellently marketed Prizefighter, which pitches at just the right level through the weights, and I reiterate through the weight categories. Love it and understand wheere it is aimed. and controlled.

How far removed are unlicensed boxing events?
You can dress them up as you wish with titles and baubles, but..
an out of shape monster being clumped by a local hero is not healthy for anyone concerned.

are some promotions going down the US tat route?
I have seen some low budget US shows on satelitte TV, and have laughed and cried at them.

I have visions of the Reverend Smoke, (anyone else remember him) clumping a few drunks from the audience week after week until a mooted ex-commando from the US services stepped in and KHTFO! funny but dangerous also. I think the show was called - So you think you can fight.

We could all club together and create the Boxrec whateverweight championship - hire one of the refs who post here - my brother is a Dr - and my mrs as the ringcard girl (maybe not as we want to sell tickets!)
I'm a salesman and in terms of tickets, I could shift some numbers

But NO the pros work hard enough.

Talent will come through - or so they say

and tragedies occur - lets hope those that do (I pray none), happen in a controlled and accountable environment.

Not exactly sure what your point is here tbh .

But to state the differences between Pro Boxing and Alternatively licensed boxing theres a few differences although from my own experiences the world of unlicensed / white collar etc etc is becoming a little better in the main than how its generally perceived on here .

The main and most crucial difference is the yearly medical the pros do , and obviously the standard of boxing .

Now theres some good kids boxing unlicensed , ex pros , top amateurs and likely future pros , many of which could becomes useful as a pro but they know becoming a pro is the main way to be recognised as a boxer , you will know which ones just do it for money as they are lads who you know should have long gone pro and end up having to be matched softer to protect their reputation and ticket sales but from what i seem to gather thats more of a problem in the London area than anywhere else , i know quite a few guys who have currently had between 1 and 4 pro fights so are currently under the radar but have come from the unlicensed circuit , so instead of me saying the skill level is closing up ill suggest we wait to see how those guys do as pros , id currently say the top unlicensed lads are better than the lower tier of the pros but the more crucial in my opinion is the gap between the bottom of the pros and the bottom of the unlicensed , this i believe is vast and your only as strong as your weakest point as quite often thats what people will judge on .

I am not knowledgeable in this area of the sport and know that adults can make their own choices in life - for money, for unfulfilled dreams, for fun etc. But as has been said many times on here. It is not a tickling contest.

What sort of tests do people have to go through, in order to be accepted for bouts? Unlicensed shows are generally ex-pros are they not, and the guys involved have a good base in the requisite skills and training knowledge.
In white collar boxing, can anyone rock up and have a dust up? What tests are in place to guage somebody's experience and whether or not they are a risk to themselves and/or the promotion. (and that is without even thinking about medical tests)

Just read some other threads which have talked about, unlicensed bouts, promotion of white collar over pro promotions etc - which got me thinking about how far this type of thing could go

I think what I was trying to ask (unsuccessfully I might add) is can you see, in the future, a mainstream competitive boxing show, with a Mr White character a la UFC, giving out a lucrative (or potentially lucrative) contract to the winner/s?

Or maybe my imagination is just running away from me.

First off , White collar and unlicensed is the exact same thing , different organisations use different variations of the name as is the same with Semi pro and also use slightly different rules from promotion to promotion ie headguard what oz gloves etc etc

As for if a promotion could go mainstream ala UFC i highly doubt it , there would always be people hammering it down and also without the BBBoC on board its always going to struggle to be officially recognised enough to attract good names , if a promotion could tie down all the top unlicensed boxers to some sort of deal its a possibility but i dont see how enough money would be on offer to do so .

There already the queensbury boxing league which tries to do this but unfortunately they dont pay enough to ever be what they say they can be.

i think Damien huckers fight at the forum series in Nottingha, is one of the better promotions in the country as is D&A in Birmingham im told although not been to one of those later ones myself ive just come across the name several times from going to various shows , and Mizengo Sikombe in sheffield is up there too .

But i think even damien himself (who does post on here) would admit that although he would love to have a promotion as big as the UFC its not going to happen , not even in the pros either , it could work in the unlicensed world and become a completely seperate entity to the rest of the unlicensed stuff and if it was going to be done damien would be someone capable of pulling it off but i really dont think the finances would allow it to happen without big backing , the sort of backing that i think ultimately provide enough money to do it pro instead .
