Re: Matt Skelton vs John McDermott this weekend
Tough fight to call. Both fighters low on confidence. Skelton will bring pressure and might just overwhelm big mac muffin early. Mcmuffin will be his usual slow and ponderous self. Both of their chins have been cracked recently.
I think mcdermott would probably want it more but Skelton has the mental edge.
Very hard fighter to call because mcdermott has decent skills and if he fights smart can do well and Skelton stamina might be going, although it's a 10 rounder. Mcmuffins stamina is also questionable.
Jesus, tough one to call here. I lean slightly towards Skelton on work rate.

Re: Matt Skelton vs John McDermott this weekend
skelton smacked mcdermot around like a rag doll in the first fight.
since then Skelton has certainly deteriorated ..... but Mcd hasnt exactly risen much and its arguable what his best win is...whatever it is its c-level at best.
a skelton who recently did well in Prizefighter and also stopped Tom Dallas without breaking sweat is probably still likely to stop Mcdermot inside 5

I am backing Skelton to bully Mc Dermott either way hopefully it will open up the domestic scene for some good clashes in the near future as we have good strength in depth amongst the heavy weights in the UK right now and they need to start fighting each other.

the 3rd was a cracker from memory
sorry Johnny.
back to the thread, I can see John McDermott winning this one wide UD. Just cannot get into a scrappy trench war with Matt.
Good match up I would say.

skelton W stoppage
Re: Matt Skelton vs John McDermott this weekend
I've always thought McDermott has good stamina. He's a talented fighter who in theory should be at his best right about now. I think he takes a decision against Skelton this weekend.

I hope the commentators don't say that McDermott 'left it in the gym' again.

This is a 50/50 fight if I ever saw one. I'd lean toward McDermott only because he's younger.

Re: Matt Skelton vs John McDermott this weekend
If McDermott can control his nerves he should win this comfotably Skelton is way past his best.
I actually thought McDermott looked (suit on) in good shape at the press conference seems to be taking his career a bit more seriously.

Re: Matt Skelton vs John McDermott this weekend
I gotta give Old Man Skelton credit for still fighting though.
Granted the guy wasn't young when he made his boxing debut, but he's still hanging round. He's found his level, isn't pretending he's world-class and is just enjoying boxing. Can't fault that in the guy.
Okay, he got sparked against David Price, but still think he's good enough to compete for the English title. If he wins, make a few defences. If he loses, maybe set up a couple more fights with journeymen in Bedford before retiring. As long as he isn't pretending he's good enough to beat a Klitschko, I say good luck to the guy.

11/4 for McDermott to win = good bet
Re: Matt Skelton vs John McDermott this weekend
I'll be putting a fair wedge on that.
