every title you can box for i.e area, british, commonwealth, european, world you know what you are a champion of but not the masters, so if robert smith reads this please sort this out and get rid of the masters title like you did the wbu title

masters silver title oh plllleeeeeeeeeeessssseeeee
i just see that tyler goodjon and dave o'connor boxed for the british silver masters title, what the f^*k is going on here people cant even tell you what a masters title holder is a champion of, ? so now we have a silver title, (what does that make you a champion of) im not having a dig at the fighters but why couldn't they have a ten round fight for an area title, (at least you know what your a champion of) i think the board need to sort this out by not recognise these titles,if fighters want to fight for these titles then the fight should not be sanctioned,

Re: masters silver title oh plllleeeeeeeeeeessssseeeee
Remember about 10 years ago (maybe more) a journeyman would always fight for a belt, that he created, called it something like the mickey mouse title.... when he lost, there would be a "new" champion.... and then a minute later the new champion was stripped and the journeyman declared vacant champ!

The Board do not recognise or sanction the Masters Titles as far as The Board are concerned they are just 10 Round contests Bruce Baker runs these titles and the criteria for the titles is on the Masters Titles Website in which the Regulations seem to be breeched all the time http://professionalboxingpromotorsassoc ... &Itemid=37
Read the regulations and you will see what I mean and then check the records of boxers who are competing for these titles Also no Board official presents the belt for these contests The Belt is supplied by Mr Baker and usually a sponsor presents it THESE TITLES ARE NOTHING WHATSOVER TO DO WITH THE BOARD

im glad mate but why do promoters still use them its just conning the boxing fans saying there is a title fight i might start my own title up any idears on a namespudder56 wrote:Darcy Delaney wrote:i just see that tyler goodjon and dave o'connor boxed for the british silver masters title, what the f^*k is going on here people cant even tell you what a masters title holder is a champion of, ? so now we have a silver title, (what does that make you a champion of) im not having a dig at the fighters but why couldn't they have a ten round fight for an area title, (at least you know what your a champion of) i think the board need to sort this out by not recognise these titles,if fighters want to fight for these titles then the fight should not be sanctioned,

Why not use a pair of braces instead of a belt Promotors use them to put a title on their shows the reason why they dont use Area Titles so much is because of the Strict Criteria as far as eligibility is concerned

Just playing Devils advocate, but if the board just class these as a 10 round fights what's to stop promoters asking for a ten round fight, and then call it the "abc sponsored title" and present their own belt? I also think as I've said before that I think the board are on dangerous ground and have a duty of care to the boxers who compete in the masters titles as they do not at current conduct check weigh ins or monitor corners or bandaging of hands as they do with any other fight of championship duration (this does vary from area to area though). The board should either hold their hands up and admit the Masters titles are a part of pro boxing or get rid of them all together instead of just avoiding the elephant in the room.

You are correct mate there is nothing to stop any belt being attatched to any contest as far as I can seeThe Insider wrote:Just playing Devils advocate, but if the board just class these as a 10 round fights what's to stop promoters asking for a ten round fight, and then call it the "abc sponsored title" and present their own belt? You are right it does need sorting and quickly as a matter of interest what do you suggest as a way of sorting it outThe Insider wrote:This could be fun then :-) How long before we see the "Uncle Jafals Kebab ranch" lightweight title.spudder56 wrote:You are correct mate there is nothing to stop any belt being attatched to any contest as far as I can seeThe Insider wrote:Just playing Devils advocate, but if the board just class these as a 10 round fights what's to stop promoters asking for a ten round fight, and then call it the "abc sponsored title" and present their own belt? I'm quite sure I saw a fight not that long ago for a Masters Bronze title, but I could be wrong.

Either embrace them and sort them out regarding how many there are, quality etc etc and regulate them properly or fvck them off and the Board get a sponsor and do their own version and call it the "Lonsdale grand prix title" (or whatever) and charge half the masters fee. Hell we could even have 3 divisions, say one for novices (5 fights and under) 1 for fighters with losing records and one for 10+ fights with winning records. This would start looking after Boxers, Punters and Promoters properly. I've discussed this on numerous occaions with licence holders. Obviously this would need tweeking but you get the jist and the Board could make a but of cash off it and put it back into the game to subsidise mri scans or reduced licence fees etc...spudder56 wrote:

Not sure they've contested a Bronze title yet but I've heard its in the pipe line mate.

You make some really good points there and yes they could put some cash back into the game by running it themselves but one thing you say that is 100% Correct is that it needs sorting out
Re: masters silver title oh plllleeeeeeeeeeessssseeeee
I thought I had seen a bronze somewhere, but maybe I am getting confused with the other 100 belts that they have.
The other belt that gets me is the permanently vacant Intercontinental titles has anyone ever defended one of these?

Why does it bother u so much?? Who cares wot titles up for grabs? A good fights a good fight and every1 knows who the best boxers are and wot level there really at! Don't matter if Carl froch boxed for the masters silver belt we all know he's world class and dnt matter if say china Clark boxed for the zxb world title we know he ain't world class he top domestic at moment...thers much better things the board need to be spending ther time on
Re: masters silver title oh plllleeeeeeeeeeessssseeeee
Proper boxing fans know that these titles are worthless but the idea is to con the general public inti thinking they are watching elite boxing. According to Bruce Baker titles put bums on seats. But do they ever come back? Once bitten twice shy.kells wrote:Why does it bother u so much?? Who cares wot titles up for grabs? Yep. 6 per weight divisonmexican roadsweeper wrote:120 Masters titles up for grabs now.
British Master Bronze - 8 rounds (brown leather/bronze)
British Masters Silver - 10 rounds (red)
British Masters Gold - 12 rounds (black and gold)
Plus International versions of the above, which are blue, to the best of my knowledge.

Out of interest do we know how many masters titles were contested last season/year/2012?
Re: masters silver title oh plllleeeeeeeeeeessssseeeee
What he means is that friends/family of the boxer contesting will be more likely to buy tickets if they think its for a title.roy wrote:

Say at 150 quid a pop is a nice 7.5k for the board to plough back in wherever they see fit (dont say the bar, the pie shop, spearmint rhino) :-)mexican roadsweeper wrote:49 last year.

To true the board could then put it back with reduced licence fees I agree with you
