Jamie McDonnell's Title Wins

Post by fightscorecollector »

Am i right saying he was the BETTING underdog when he won all his titles????

Napa - British and Commonwealth

French guy in France - European

Ceja - WBC World

If it is then McDonnell deserves even more respect. I thought he boxed very well, in-fact a world class performance of boxing and moving with McDonnell mixing it up when he needed to.

i thought Napa won that fight pretty comfortably , but all credit to McDonnell because he's come on leaps and bounds since then.

I know it has been said before, but there is something even extra special about the titles : British - Commonwealth - European - World

I bet now looking back, the likes of Hatton and Calzaghe wish that they had done the same.

You're right about the 'traditional route'. Clinton Woods was the same and even started it off with an Area Title.

Jamoye had a razor close defeat to McDonnell and has improved since so I think that would be a very credible World title defence if a big money fight abroad couldn't be made. A defence against Hall with respect wouldn't in my eyes be all that credible, Hall lost decisively to Lee Haskins less than a year back and Haskins has since had a barnstormer against Jamoye and won a British title fight by KO. We all know boxing is a business but in my opinion Haskins and Jamoye are way more deserving even if Haskins isn't ranked by the IBF (he may be in there once they are updated you never know.)
