Moorer/McCall.
What happens? I'd take Moorer on points.

I think it would take a fired up, peak McCall to wear down Moorer. I reckon the Atomic Bull of Lewis 1 could pull it off.

Possibly. I think usually MM would win.polecateddy wrote:I think it would take a fired up, peak McCall to wear down Moorer. I reckon the Atomic Bull of Lewis 1 could pull it off.

Re: Moorer/McCall.
McCall would have been a step up from Botha and Schultz I think. But I would agree, that on a average performing day Moorer on PTS would be likely.

Yeah, he'd have been a step up from them, but I was thinking of the Moorer of the Holyfield fight (I).polecateddy wrote:McCall would have been a step up from Botha and Schultz I think. But I would agree, that on a average performing day Moorer on PTS would be likely.
Re: Moorer/McCall.
On their best night McCall. And I'd be confident of that. But, yes, McCall didn't often turn up on his bets night so i can see the logic for Moorer

Moorer 4 times out of 5. McCall was a solid puncher with a granite chin but if he couldn't land a big shot he pretty much always lost decisions against the top HWs.

Yeah, that was my thinking on this also. The Great John L wrote:Moorer 4 times out of 5. McCall was a solid puncher with a granite chin but if he couldn't land a big shot he pretty much always lost decisions against the top HWs.

On the other hand Moorer was matched carefully. A fired up McCall was just the type of fight his management aimed to avoid. They knew it could spoil more lucrative fights down the road with the likes of Foreman and Holyfield.

Re: Moorer/McCall.
And when exactly was McCall ever "fired up"? That's what was missing throughout his career. Against Lewis he simply landed a perfectly timed RH counter, something that if they fought another 50 rounds he probably wouldn't have been able to repeat.polecateddy wrote:On the other hand Moorer was matched carefully. Re: Moorer/McCall.
He's was clearly fired up in McCall/Lewis 1. Not many other examples I suppose, although he went after Bruno and Holmes in the late rounds when he knew he was losing. The Great John L wrote:And when exactly was McCall ever "fired up"? So, would you see McCall doing better than winning 1 in 5 in a series against Moorer?polecateddy wrote:He's was clearly fired up in McCall/Lewis 1. And I'm not talking about each at their absolute best for all 5 fights because that's not how boxing, or any sport, works.
Re: Moorer/McCall.
I think Moorer gets the better of it more often than not. McCall could shake him up and possibly stop him on some nights, but more often than not, Moorer's superior speed and skill wins the day.

I think McCall would have knocked Moorer.
Re: Moorer/McCall.
Against Seldon he showed some fire, no?

A focussed Moorer to win by decision.

Re: Moorer/McCall.
The most fired up McCall has been is in Lewis 1. That version runs through Moorer.
