What happens? I'd take Moorer on points.
Possibly. I think usually MM would win.polecateddy wrote:I think it would take a fired up, peak McCall to wear down Moorer. I reckon the Atomic Bull of Lewis 1 could pull it off.
Yeah, he'd have been a step up from them, but I was thinking of the Moorer of the Holyfield fight (I).polecateddy wrote:McCall would have been a step up from Botha and Schultz I think. But I would agree, that on a average performing day Moorer on PTS would be likely.
Yeah, that was my thinking on this also. The Great John L wrote:Moorer 4 times out of 5. McCall was a solid puncher with a granite chin but if he couldn't land a big shot he pretty much always lost decisions against the top HWs.
And when exactly was McCall ever "fired up"? That's what was missing throughout his career. Against Lewis he simply landed a perfectly timed RH counter, something that if they fought another 50 rounds he probably wouldn't have been able to repeat.polecateddy wrote:On the other hand Moorer was matched carefully. A fired up McCall was just the type of fight his management aimed to avoid. They knew it could spoil more lucrative fights down the road with the likes of Foreman and Holyfield.
He's was clearly fired up in McCall/Lewis 1. Not many other examples I suppose, although he went after Bruno and Holmes in the late rounds when he knew he was losing. The Great John L wrote:And when exactly was McCall ever "fired up"? So, would you see McCall doing better than winning 1 in 5 in a series against Moorer?polecateddy wrote:He's was clearly fired up in McCall/Lewis 1.
