Jones by clear decision.

Haye is a poor man's Jones. His pot-shot style without setting up his punches is tailor made for Roy, who would be more than content to just pick up points via his quicker hands and wait for Haye to lead. Haye of course would be hesistant to lead himself, thus allowing Roy to just pick up the rounds with flurries and quick one-twos.

Jones advocates must be talking about prime.....since both fighters are fighting today.....and a fight today would produce a one sided beatdown at any weight.

Haye by brutal KO. I don't think the result would ever be in danger. Not that Jones wouldn't win rounds... But Haye can be patient. He's exactly what Jones would hate...a bigger athletic man who can close the show with one shot...

Roy Jones via Ko at 5-6 round obviously in
his prime ;)

That's kinda how I see it to. Roy would be the faster man, but for the first time his speed advantage wouldn't be as great. Haye would find him eventually

Do we think there's a reason why Jones skipped cruiser? Money or?

I would give Toney a much better chance of beating Haye at cruiser than Jones, personally.

Jones would make a fool of Haye. Easy UD for Jones.

could go either way. the kind of fighter prime jones
would have liked to avoid. david is fast and not easily
hit, since he doesn't open up regularly. could have
made for an interesting fight, but there is one thing
that would IMO speak for haye: size. i think haye is
naturally quite bigger than roy. we are talking about
6foot3 against 5feet11 and i doubt cruiser would have
been a weight where roy would be at his best.

Haye isn't really 6'3 he's more like 6'1 3/4. He also doesn't have a very big frame. He was no bigger than Ruiz who is not a big heavyweight.

Prime Jones is a handful for any boxer in history, but Jones at cruiser ain't Jones in his prime.

I'd still favour him stongly to win this chess match. However, I think in this fight, Haye hits harder than anyone that Jones faced - at the time of their fight with Roy. Add to that, that RJJ was a reflex fighter and those reflexes were slower with more weight. I think Haye wins 3 times out of 10.

There's no chance that Jones survives a flush power punch from Haye, but if this is Roy from 01/02, I don't think he has to take that punch. Haye is quick for a cruiserweight/heavyweight, but he's not Ali/Patterson quick and he's certainly a lot slower than RJJ. Both fight with a similar style: low output, pot-shotting with power punches and using their feet to stay at range. Roy struggles most against high output punchers like Griffin and Johnson, and just wouldn't get that kind of pressure from Haye, who while the much bigger man, is at a big stylistic disadvantage in this fight. That said, Haye took some good punches from Wlad, so I don't think Roy sparks him or beats him down badly enough for a stoppage.

Jones with a wide, unanimous decision with 117-111 to 118-110 type scorecards.

Yet look how the two tallest guys are standing? Chin jutting up, maximising their posture...but yet Haye looks to only have about 4-5 inches on Khan there, a guy who isn't 5'9" by all accounts.

To me reach isn't that important in this fight, I'd be more curious about how Jones bulks up.

I was looking more at how he appeared much taller than Hopkins who is 6'1/6'2.

I agree I don't think reach would matter . Jones would smoke this guy.
