N'dou blasts Hatton!
Jr welterweight contender Lovemore N'dou has ripped into unbeaten fellow contender Ricky Hatton in a press release issued by his management. "Last week on 5 days notice we offered to take the place of Kelson Pinto, still to no avail. Instead you [Hatton] opt for a lightweight boxer in Holbaek-Pederson, whose only bout since 2002 was against a dangerous opponent whose record read 1 win and 5 losses and who was coming off 3 consecutive losses. And you call yourself "The Hitman?" I say take me on and I will prove that a capital "S" will be needed in your fightname...all the talk about you facing Sharmba prior to the bout last week? You going to fight Sharmba? I think not. He'll go into the too hard basket with me. Whats the excuse to avoid the genuine top tenners this time Ricky? I think you're just running scared! Your manager can protect you now, but that will all be over when I finally get you into the ring. With #1 and #2 vacant in the IBF ratings and #3 Mike Stewart losing last week - #4 Miguel Cotto already booked to fight on May 8, why don't you get on the phone to the IBF to see if we cant fight it off for the #1 position? ...Tell Frank that either my promotor Dan Goossen or manager Stuart Duncan are waiting for his call, 'cause we'll fight you anywhere - anytime - anyplace."
If the Mitchell fight can't be made, N'dou would be interesting on his showing against Hatton, thought????

I think that if it is true he offered to fight him on 5 days notice then Warren is a joke, Lovemore is a good fight for Hatton and at least he can see if he will make it with the big boys. I would have thought that Hatton would beat Ndou but after the fight with Mitchell i think that Ndou might beat the shitman.
Quite different styles between Pinto and N'dou, plus about half a foot of height. Plus I think Hatton's injury meant that they were more keen on filling a date than throwing him in with a real threat.
That said, if this is true it's another black mark against Warren. N'Dou would be a decent fight if Mitchell doesn't come off, especially if he's prepared to fight him anyplace AND anywhere. That said, he's very much fringe himself, despite a decent paper record, and would be using Hatton more than Hatton would be using him, I think. But he does have the fitness to match Hatton and he's a tough SOB.
Because of the injury thing, I can almost forgive them not taking anyone too risky, but there HAS to be a step up next time. But other than that, given that most pros are decent amateurs and most amateurs know not much about opponents or get used to having opponents change at the last minute, I'm not massively in favour of the 'not the kind of guy I was training for' excuse. Plus Hatton, whilst not a one-trick pony, probably doesn't train massively differently for anyone.

There is nothing "Cut & Dry" when it comes to the dealings of English Promoter allegedly. This past weekend Warren had his charge Ricky Hatton (35-0, 26 KO’s) in real tough with unbeaten Kelson Pinto, (20-0, 18 KO’s). But two days prior to the Showtime televised event, Pinto was replaced by a Scandinavian 135 lber. "Dennis the Menace" Pederson. Warren claimed that Pinto had fallen ill and could not appear in this Interim WBO 140 lb. title fight. As could be predicted, Hatton manhandled the unprepared and out-gunned Dane Pederson inside of three heats.
LET’S GET SOME THINGS STRAIGHT!
Before we go any further let’s bring a few facts to light. The Brazilian Pinto is handled by California based Manager Ricardo Maldonado Sr. A hell of a puncher, Pinto is "Highly Touted" in circles that extend beyond his native South America. That being said, Showtime is said to have paid $500,000 for the fight. Sky TV reportedly kicked in another $500 K and the "Live" gate for a packed MEN Arena in Manchester, UK was close to $2 million U.S. dollars. And Warren wanted Pinto to fight for $60,000!
WARREN NEVER HAD AN INKED CONTRACT!
As it turns out Pinto and Maldonado Sr. had never penned their names on a Contract to fight Hatton! And yet Warren continued to promote Hatton-Pinto, which unlike Hatton-Pederson, it was a "Real" fight all the way up until Wednesday! And allegedly did so even though he knew Maldonado wouldn’t let Pinto get on a plane without having a purse agreement and a signed Contract. One source real close to the fight said Warren tried to give Pinto $60 K for a fight that was to have grossed close to $3 million. Looking for something closer to $500 K, Maldonado and Pinto instead stayed home!
