The Hows, The Whys and The Wherefores

Post by Crease »

Title News!!!

In response to a Couple of Mr Buzz's statements that he made in the Week 14 Matchup thread:
BoxBuzz wrote:Well when Spinks puts the kabosh on the St Charles express, he'll still need to defend his newly won crown a few times before he'll be ready for the Gibber...Or Joe for that matter. Same story for the vice of the versa outcome.

In fact, The Gibber himself will have to walk the WBA title home a few more times before he could unify that one.
BoxBuzz wrote:Laughable! And IF we could unite all three titles with Lonsdale pride this week, we would have agreed to such a unification in a nanosecond, just to bring you some well deserved humility. However we have to defend the WBA a few times before we can unify in such a way.
Here are the permutations, of a possible Unification in Week 15:
(all of which are dependent on Tommy Gibbons not losing this week, of course)

Scenario One: (Charles defeats Spinks in Week 14)
If a Gibbons vs Charles fight should be agreed it would be for: The LONSDALE SimRing BELT, The IBF Title and The WBC Title.

In this instance, the WBA and WBO Titles would not be on the line and either fighter will keep them while going into Week 16.

Scenario Two: (Spinks defeats Charles in Week 14)
If a Gibbons vs Spinks fight should be agreed it would be for: The LONSDALE SimRing BELT, The IBF Title and The WBO Title.

In this instance, the WBA and WBC Titles would not be on the line and either fighter will keep them while going into Week 16.

That is all, just wanted to make this a little clearer - if that is what you call this...
( )

It does get a wee bit confusing sometimes doesn't it?
But Managers can rest assured that a am keeping tabs from week-to-week on who the Champions are and how many title defences they achieve.

Just one other thing I'd like to mention:

Buzz has highlighted before that it's a tough draw to become elligible for Unification - the ONLY way is to defend your World Title three times in a row without losing it.

Normally, this might only happen once or twice in a season, limiting the number of unifications which are possible, but for some extraordinary reason, we have had it 4 times, even before we hit Week 15... Who knows why this happens, but it does make for interesting times in the Sim.

Undoubtedly, a main factor in this is the absence of mandatory challenges so far this season, but all in all, I think everything has went very weel thus far, apart from a few minor administration mishaps on my part.

And here's something for all the Managers to think about - we'll probably come back to this later in the season;

If a fighter does "lock down" the 5 titles and holds them simultaneously (and thus only one Manager gets a World Title shot every week) - should another World Title be included halfway through the season, just to spread the opportunities around? (you all know me, I try to cater for everyone).

And even if a 5th World title is not agreed upon (although it's ahppened before in the Welterweight season) - should we bring back the WTF Title then - as a 2nd minor belt?

Something for all you gentlemen to ponder.

Also:

When those who have been given a belt....such as Loughran, Charles, Gibbons and is Spinks there yet? When they RECAPTURE that particular belt (or agree to fight for it from another standing champion) , they are entitled to the perks and privileges they had when they last left that belt.

This may make "belt loyalty" a dynamic, as well as make it a little easier for unifications.
