Round Robin of the naughty straws

Post by Boxing Prospect »

The 00's had a handful of fantastic strawweights but who would beat who and who would come out on top in a case of Prime v Prime

Fighters to consider

Jose Antonio Aguirre-Was on the slide by 2004 but had scored victories over Singwancha, Palacios, Keb Baas and made 7 title defenses

Eagle Den Junlaphan-The man who took Aguirre's crown in 2004 scored victories over not only Aguirre but also over Takayama, Mayol and Yaegashi

Oleydong Sithsamerchai-The man who took the WBC title from Eagle, defeated P.Porpraook, Palacios and Rachman as well as Eagle

Yutaka Niida-Defeated Porpaoin, Landaeta, Barrera, Takayama, before losing to Gonzalez in 2008

Roman Gonzalez-Emerged late in the decade but scored victories over Niida, Rosas and Takayama

Ivan Calderon-Defeated Eduardo Ray Marquez for the WBO belt in 2003 and defeated Bustos, Reyes and Barrera before moving up in 2004

I'm sure I'm missing someone else.

I'd take Calderon. Gonzalez wasn't at his peak at straw IMO. Kyowa...too bad he got that injury v. Bustos.
Porpaoin deserves a mention as a division stalwart who beat Hoshino and drew with Landaeta.
Nothing like the 90s though (Finito, Alvarez, Vorapin).
