TONY THOMPSON OFFERED BIG MONEY CLASH WITH HUGHIE FURY SEP 2

Post by DanielGraham73 »

Peter Fury has made a offer larger than what was made to Thompson to fight Price on both occasions to box Hughie on the Fury Haye card, bad move IMO so early on,claiming that when Furys ready to vacate his world titles Hugh will be waiting to pick them up :bag:

According to Fury's website Thompson has a better offer but theirs still stands should the other one fall through.
I rate Hughie but I don't think he's ready for this yet.

The 'better offer' could well be Pulev. There have been talks of Thompson v Pulev.

I take it mike tyson is still the youngest heavyweight world title holder, how old is hugie and how far off is he from tysons record?

Mike Tyson was 20 years, 4 months, and 22 days old. Hughie is currently 18 years and approximately 10 months.

I've only seen Hughie box once and he had to much raw power but Thompson is a very good boxer; I admire the Fury camp and the confidence they have; British boxing has lots of excellent boxers who spent ages fighting below their level and treading water; in the Orient they get straight in at the level their ability warrants.

So Fury has about 18 months left?

He won't make it; the heavy titles were all over the place when Tyson came through; they are on virtual lockdown now.

I think Price made Thompson look better than he really is. Fury's camp know this too!

I dont think he will fight him though unless he fights Sept 2nd as I think he will fight Audley Harrison on the 28th

agreed , i wouldn't put an 18 year old Clay in with a fighter like thompson ...but if it works he will be the biggest young name in heavyweight boxing.

No, he looked a bit straightforward to me; Thompson has a bag of tricks and is tough and game. Price is fairly straightforward but sets his heavy shots well and he didn't get anywhere with Tony. Hughie ought to develop at his own pace and forget the 'youngest champ ever' thing.

Why not if the money's right? Price definitely flattered The Tiger. It's shocking how bad Price was.

Wise move for Thompson, he's beat Price and thinks hes on top of the world. Even though Fury is 7-0 I wouldnt bet on him losing

Regardless of whether it happens, lets praise Peter and Hughie for showing balls and making/wanting fighters to fight hard opponents! I wish he could promote all British fighters like this then the sport would be back at it's best.

Personally I think Hughie would lose the fight but good man for trying.

Would like to see it actually but I can't really see Thompson going for it. He is looking up after the Price rematch and is no doubt eyeing one last title shot.

In 18 months the WBC could well be held by someone not named Klitschko. Wlad could Hoover it up but no way will he manage to keep all four belts. He would get stripped at some point.
