Now he has hung up his gloves as world heavyweight champion, Lewis, 38, can enjoy the fortune he has amassed during his years in the ring. Lewis may have spent his teens in Canada, but he was born in London and now lives with his mother in the capital, although he also has lavish homes in Jamaica and Florida. Up to 1997, his wealth reached £25m, helped by a stint as WBC champion from 1993-94. When he regained the title in 1997, he signed a seven-fight deal that netted him a further £40m. The fights that followed, including the 2002 KO of Mike Tyson, earned him more than £30m. With his prize money, endorsements - he promotes Fubu clothing - and video game rights, Lewis easily stays at last year's figure, allowing for tax and investment income. His clean-cut image should help if he pursues the commentating career he is considering.
