What has George Groves said to rile Carl Froch so much?

Post by palooka »

Could anyone shed some light onto what it is that Groves has said? I read some quotes fro Froch at a publicity event where he said that Groves had been very disrespectful and that he couldn't wait to bash him up. I've not seen much of anything that Groves has said and nothing that has put Froch down. Has something been said or is it that Groves has pushed for the bout or is it just a publicity angle?

I find Froch's attitude towards Groves to be disrespectful and a little cruel. Just because Groves thinks he can win and is talking up his chances, in Froch's mind he is way out of line. The mind boggles!

It seems froch detests the fact groves thinks he's going to win & has played down carls performances saying he was lucky against Taylor & was a mile behind & wasn't deservant against dirrell.
Froch does struggle with speed & is more comftable counter punching so groves has stated he's got the formula ie blueprint to defeat froch on this basis.
It does seem like froch is losing the psychological warfare in this one & how much differance it makes I don't know but froch seems to like to have or believe he has the edge.

Froch thinks he's up there with Ali and Pele etc and as a result thinks Groves should be licking his arse, just because he is not, has self confidence and is trying to wind Froch up to help sell the fight Froch doesn't like it. He's always been sensitive, insecure and thinks the world owes him fame but he's just a boring twat.

Much as I'd love Groves to shut him up he loses this similar to Bute.

Dirrell. Outboxed and he lost in my opinion.
Taylor, Out boxed and dropped then knocked out a tiring fighter.
AA...Poor Small Supermiddle with limited boxing ability.
Kessler Lost to a past his best Kessler and beat an even more over the hill version.
Bute..Good win!
Mack..Not that good.
Ward Lost clearly to a one handed fighter.
Groves...........................................

Bute was an unknown quantity, but then saying that he was rocked to his boots & out on his feet against a club fighter.you could say bute was dead at 12 st possibly.

I think froch stops groves but the nearer we get & the display of emotion from froch makes me less confident

First Kessler fight was close, second Froch won clearly.... Neither version of Kessler was as good as the one Calzaghe beat, but even the current version of Kessler is still head and shoulders above anything on Groves' resume. In fact, AA is better than anything on Groves' resume.

Froch feels insulted that Groves has chosen not to duck him and go after a Steiglitz or Bika instead

Disagree with that.

Froch deserved the decision but Kessler was competitive throughout the fight and I was never confident that Froch was in total control.

In saying that, Froch did finish the last 30 seconds of the fight very strongly.

George has just said that he doesn't think Carl is as good as everyone thinks and Froch is being pathetic about it demanding respect.

To be fair, I never said Kessler wasn't competitive, just that Froch won a clear decision....

Groves is more Mario Veit than Joe Calzaghe though, isn't he?

And now please do the same list for Groves' last eight opponents. If AA is a "poor small supermiddle with limited boxing ability" I'm keen to see what you say about them

Veit is bloody harsh haha. Groves is a talented fighter. Good enough to beat Froch im not sure. Probably has enough boxing ability but whether his chin holds up is a different matter altogether.

Yeah im not sure how anyone can really hate on Froch's opposition. You might not like him personally but he's fought the creme de la creme throughout his career and deserves props for that in an era of ducking and diving.

If I remember carl did the exact same and called out calzaghe just before jo retried. ... I think carls wound up because he probably thinks he's worth a bigger stage and his nose is out of joint cos george has nothing to offer and a lot to gain. .. if George loses so what hel just of lost to a decent fighter but if froch loses that's pretty much as good as it gets for carl... Maybe a return of kessler then retirement. ..

Personally I think it's all BS. The more it gets talked up, the more they insult each other, the more hype added to the promotion, more people will buy the PPV. I don't believe any of it, but will buy the PPV as I'm expecting a good scrap.

Even if Carl wins it'sll be the same scenario, Kessler and then retire I would say.

Jesus.

This board needs the likes of J, McNeilly, Spud etc etc back ASAP.

I've seen it all now, a dismantling of Froch's last 8 opponents.

Staggering some of the crap on here at the moment.
