Paddy Fitzpatrick - what do we know about him?
Paddy Fitzpatrick - what do we know about him?
Apart from the fact that he likes wearing a hat, there appears to be little about him on the web.
Anybody here know anything about him? Did he ever box? Does he still have links with Booth? Where was he before that? Has he worked with any other boxers of note?

Re: Paddy Fitzpatrick - what do we know about him?
Jamie Cox was a decent boxer who worked with Fitzpatrick; I think I read that he knows the sport and has learnt from some very good trainers and been a regular in very well thought of gyms. I imagine that any strategy for the bout will have come from outside people (from Booth through Haye) with the approval and agreement of Groves.
Re: Paddy Fitzpatrick - what do we know about him?
I wondered that aswell. I read somewhere that he had worked in the wild card with Freddie for awhile after meeting him somewhere and he was Booth's assistant for awhile aswell. I heard that he might of done some work with the mayweathers aswell.johnswan1 wrote:Apart from the fact that he likes wearing a hat, there appears to be little about him on the web.

It would seem he has worked with a number of fighters,

Re: Paddy Fitzpatrick - what do we know about him?
Because he isn't well known doesn't really mean he doesn't know a lot, there are some very talented people who are not famous. From all accounts the physical aspect of a boxing match is the easiest part to sort out, it is the mental aspect that is the most difficult and intricate. I think that on Saturday we will see a very good fight between well matched men.
Though if you google him (fitzpatrick) he is a bit cheeky when it comes to planning laws

Re: Paddy Fitzpatrick - what do we know about him?
I don't think he's done anyone any harm, but already people are slagging him and judging him in some corners and I think that's a bit out of order to be honest really.
But his performance as a trainer / coach I shall reserve until I see him action on Saturday.
I wonder if he will throw the towel in faster or slower than Booth would ?

Re: Paddy Fitzpatrick - what do we know about him?
I don't think McCracken would ever retire Froch; he'd leave it to the ref or Doctor.Groove Armada wrote:He can't throw in the towel for Froch, Mcracken will do that.G0mez wrote:

Re: Paddy Fitzpatrick - what do we know about him?
I disagree. Him and Froch seem very close. I reckon McCracken sees Froch like family and if he was getting a bad beating, he'd throw the towel in. The fact that's he older now and he's already achieved what he wants to aswell is another reason.palooka wrote:I don't think McCracken would ever retire Froch; he'd leave it to the ref or Doctor.Groove Armada wrote:He can't throw in the towel for Froch, Mcracken will do that.G0mez wrote:

Re: Paddy Fitzpatrick - what do we know about him?
I'm starting to think he's never left Booth. He surely wasn't sparring Eubank and Buglioni in Swindon? Also, didn't look like him and "The Hat" had gelled properly on the pads.
Re: Paddy Fitzpatrick - what do we know about him?
It was a bit 'stage whispered' as well mickey; if you'd anything private to say then you'd say it well away from the camera/mics.mickey1975 wrote:I'm starting to think he's never left Booth. Re: Paddy Fitzpatrick - what do we know about him?
Funny you should say that. Check this interview out from earlier. Groves doesnt really seem to dismiss that Adam will be there http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OF5khm85WEmickey1975 wrote:I'm starting to think he's never left Booth. Re: Paddy Fitzpatrick - what do we know about him?
Froch is physically fantastic and has a great will to win but has shown himself to be a complicated individual; he can be played to his detriment though McCracken is a clever man. We'll all see in a day or 2.
Re: Paddy Fitzpatrick - what do we know about him?
Groves seemed to be telling him what sparring he wanted on behind the ropes. Either Groves's ego has grown that big he believes he doesn't really need a corner man or the dark lord will return. I'm thinking the latter.

i got a similar impression from the Behind The Ropes show as well.broomy7s wrote:Groves seemed to be telling him what sparring he wanted on behind the ropes. Either Groves's ego has grown that big he believes he doesn't really need a corner man or the dark lord will return. I'm thinking the latter.
It nearly looked like he was training himself. And that lead me to believe the exact same things you said. Either he's getting too big for his boots, or Booth is there.
But its a long and hard charade to act.
Being honest, who hear wouldnt say, if Booth walked out with George on Saturday, "stupid fuckers"?
Re: Paddy Fitzpatrick - what do we know about him?
I think it's either the best kept secret or rumour in boxing that Booth is still managing Groves, until January at least he alledgedly earns 25% of Groves’s earnings. Is it not funny they fell out when the biggest (purse) fight of Groves career was made... Is it probable George wasn't amused at Booth picking up so much cash for managing and training him?? Therefore rumours suggest he tried to spilt only for Booth to go down the legal route to gain his fee.
For the above reasons I can't see Booth being in the corner, and if he did and George goes out on a stretcher what an embarrassing shambles that would be.

I interviewed Paddy during the week on his background in boxing. He came across as a very astute man, self-assured, a man who has achieved quite a bit but who does not like to brag about it. Anyway, here's the link:

Yeah lost my old log on Len. Not that I was very prolific in the first place...

Re: Paddy Fitzpatrick - what do we know about him?
I have a sneaky feeling Booth will be in his corner. When he was asked about Booth being in his corner Saturday night, Groves didn't give a straight answer, he was scratching his head, saying highly unlikely, and its very doubtful. Why not just say 'Booth will not be in my corner' and kill the conversation. He seemed uncomfortable, and hesitant to answer the questions directly with a simple 'No'.chrisbonnie wrote:i got a similar impression from the Behind The Ropes show as well.broomy7s wrote:Groves seemed to be telling him what sparring he wanted on behind the ropes. Seems very fishy to me..

I wonder what his cut was from the Froch Groves rematch, maybe he never really needed to work again after thatControversial wrote: ↑23 Oct 2025, 11:06 Old thread bump. I forgot about Paddy Fitzpatrick, saw him on an old YouTube clip I was watching, where did he go, is he still training fighters?
