Worst PPV in a long time??
Worst PPV in a long time??
Matchroom Boxing doing their best to make Sky Sports ban pay-per-view boxing for another two years.
That undercard was absolutely horrendous from start to finish.
Why was Scott Quigg defending his "world title" against a guy ranked 84th in the world
and as for that stoppage and the scorecards just embarrassing.

Not as bad as the current Top Rank one right now. These Chinese fighters are deplorable

I agree 100%
Saw on another forum they are gathering names to ask sky for a refund, that's unlikely.
Quigg looked like he was fighting his little brother!
And the stoppage is maybe the worst I have seen in a world title fight, that would never happen in the states.
Re: Worst PPV in a long time??
Agree 100%. All fights were mis matches.. Was at a show in Aberdeen last week 4 fight card and was far better!!
Re: Worst PPV in a long time??
Very, very bad.
Shame on Hearn.
Shame on Hearn.

Surely there is nothing SKY/Matchroom can do about the dodgy officiating.......................Oh my, the penny has dropped.gazzman87 wrote:Matchroom Boxing doing their best to make Sky Sports ban pay-per-view boxing for another two years.

Re: Worst PPV in a long time??
excluding Froch v Groves most of the undercard opponents looked at least a weight below!

I agree with you mate. The undercard barely kept my interest. Shocking.gazzman87 wrote:

Re: Worst PPV in a long time??
The under card was poor! And the ending of the main fight was awful
But and it's a big but, if we didn't buy paper view that fight could have never been made and that was an amazing fight.
It has changed people view on groves in my opinion to not only rating him as a world class fighter but a fan favourite as well as he acted like a gentleman and a complete warrior
So before people moan about paying £15 for the fight just remember we would have never got to see this fight if we never payed!

The rematch could take place with no undercard and do better numbers than tonight. It will be huge.

Awful undercard. Awful all round from sky, will hopefully never be duped into parting money for that tripe again.
Main event was an incredible fight that Jim Watt and the rest made a mockery of.

Re: Worst PPV in a long time??
I feel like I wasted £15 on this, but it's the fans at the fight I feel for.
A world title fight cut short and an appalling under card, those tickets were not cheap.
I'd like to see a rematch but I suspect Froch had already planned to fight Ward next and then Kessler if he loses. At the end of the Kessler fight they both wanted a decider and Froch won't retire on a loss to Ward.
Gutted for Groves.

Re: Worst PPV in a long time??
The undercard was quite frankly a complete disgrace.
Frampton and Quigg's people are as bad as each other. They put them in to beat tomato cans and then act like they're monsters after it. Steve Lillis said that Donaire might be in trouble after he knocked out Darchinyan against either. Based on what exactly? The pair of them bashing up two guys Darchinyan would beat in his sleep??
McDonnell and Smith opponents were pathetic.

I was there and had a great night. I had no expectations of the undercard and the main event and atmosphere were brilliant.grannyman wrote:I feel like I wasted £15 on this, but it's the fans at the fight I feel for.

Same but the undercard was risible. It looked awful on paper too.mickey1975 wrote:I was there and had a great night. I had no expectations of the undercard and the main event and atmosphere were brilliant.grannyman wrote:I feel like I wasted £15 on this, but it's the fans at the fight I feel for.

Re: Worst PPV in a long time??
New age promoting my ass. Absolutely warped under card. This season Matchroom has been all marketing and no product. Just hyping up their stable in mismatches. Adam Smith's reign as head of sky boxing has been much the same, focus on presentation and hype, we just want good fights - focus on that. I am not even going to get into the conclusion of Froch-Groves, will just say Groves proved me wrong with the way he fought, he is a class act in and out of the ring.
Re: Worst PPV in a long time??
x 2. So much moaning on this forum. People need to calm down. Just don't buy the next one and if enough people do the same, PPV will vanish as they won't do numbers. Moaning consistently about PPV on forums and YouTube will get you nowhere.mickey1975 wrote:I was there and had a great night. Re: Worst PPV in a long time??
It always amazes me the amount of crying people do when they have to pay for a fight.
It's £15 I know times are hard but how many people can say they waste that on things like a takeaway meal? I myself do all the time, now if someone said u can have a takeaway or watch a great fight with a poor undercard I know what I would rather have, the fight.
Like iv said before people live in dream worlds. These big fights can not happen unless the fighters get big money. Does anyone honestly expect froch or groves to go through hell and back for about 60.000 each coz I'm not 100% sure but that's roughly what sky pay for a show £120.000. Now that's without the undercard being paid for,
All the people that constantly moan about the price just don't watch it no one forces you to purchase it.

Re: Worst PPV in a long time??
Was Mcdonnell fighting a dwarf? Pathetic undercard, I always get to the shows from the 1st fight, I wish I didn't on saturday. Fair enough matchroom got it wrong for the 1st time in a long while imo. Just wish they'd admit and apoligise.
Re: Worst PPV in a long time??
Loved how Joe Gallagher said "we are done with Frampton, he brings nothing to the table".
