Is Carl Froch an Arrogant Asshole?

Post by thepocketrocket »

OK, serious question. For ages when Carl has been giving it large and not coming across well, he has been forgiven for it by people saying he 'lacks personality and just can't pull it off, like an early Calzaghe who was taking off Naz'

But really, is this over generous?. Is he a prize one tit who thinks he is better than Hagler? Or is he really just so media unfriendly?

Definitely, but some people seem to think he's earned the right to be one because of who he's fought and his achievements in the ring. No one has the right to be an arsehole.

Not abusing. Just questioning the perception that he struggles media wise and isn't a nob. And I repeat, questioning, not stating an opinion. Asking because the last few days have seen a twist in a lot of peoples positions

I actually like Carl Froch. But of course he is an arrogant asshole. He always has been though. Nothing's changed. I'm surprised at the reaction to him on Saturday to be fair, he's never hid the fact he's a total fanny

It's funny one fighters statement puts words in the mouth of so many others!!!
Froch chased big fights & when he fought pascal they both were at there best & people bang on about groves power when pascal punches probably harder & went on to claim a title up a division !!

To me froch got given no favours stuck to it & has boxed at the highest level longer then any other Brit I can remember.to lose & regain a world title once is a sighn of a very good fighter & to do it twice takes a great fighter!

Froch ain't the most charasmatic person & abit dry for my liking & he doesn't deserve the level of disrespect posters have shown, because on a fans perspective the boy has allway's deliverd the excitement & I'm gratefull for that & he's shown the kids it ain't about timing & waiting if you believe your good enough

He's a total cock.

All boxers are slightly arrogant but this man is a different level. It's the reason everyone loved Hatton so much, he was a two weight World Champion, number one in his division, earning shit loads, but he never came across like he thought he was greatest fighter that ever laced the gloves. Okay man of the people mantra, tickling contest etc wore a bit thin, but you could never say Ricky was arrogant.

Carl's post fight interview on Saturday was a disgrace. He was the one showing all the disrespect in the build up, saying Groves wasn't on his level (even though he was mandatory), his breath smelled, he was ugly etc yet he gets the hump when Groves dared to say anything back... like he was thinking "who is this man to say anything against the international superstart Carl Froch".

I'm glad Groves beat him up and I hope he beats him up again.

Carl, you've never even been number one in your division pal. Get over yourself.

Is what I'd say to him from a very safe distance standing behind a fence.

I think by the end Hatton probably did believe his own hype and was a bit into himself, but he kept people onside with his humour, basically he could take the piss out of himself, have a joke about him or his family and bring everyone onside, plus he was a pisshead and a lot of fans can relate to that.

Froch doesn't really appear to have the humour or charisma to pull off mass popularity, but I agree he needs to stop harping on about his own achievements.

Just like when Hatton was saying all that 'man of the people' bollocks, that got on my nerves. You should let OTHERS talk the most about your own achievements. I'm not asking him to put himself down, but his achievements speak for themselves so it would be nice to see a bit of humour put in there sometimes - it's probably not gona happen though.

There's a fine line between confidence and self-belief that you need to be the best, stepping over to arrogance. You have to have a lot of charisma to pull it off and this is probably what lets Froch down.

I think it is a good point that PR, the forum superstar, has made. Thinking about it - when he was doing the analysis for Sky fights (when he just turned to Sky) he used to talk about his achievements in major detail.... like "I won the WBC title when I was mandatory, I then made blah blah defenses and the won the WBC title against Arthur Abraham" etc.... I used to think he was just trying to explain things about boxing to a wider audience (always used to harp on about the WBC belt being the best one etc).... Now though.... in light of this build up... its clear to me that he just fancies himself.

The way he left Hennessy and COMPLETELY dismissed his work spoke volumes also.... "Oh I've promoted myself for years anyway".... No.... Hennessy got you in the Super 6, Hennessy, not Eddie Hearn, got you the fight with Ward. Hearn might have taken the money and the glory, but it was set in stone before hand and it was Mick, not you, not Eddie, at the negotiation table.... Hennessy got you your world title shot and also got you a vacant title fight despite coming back of a defeat - not you or Eddie.

One more thing, Froch was claiming that he has won every major version of the world title... so is he dismissing Calzaghe's reign completely then? Aint seen the WBO belt around his waist yet.

One more thing, one more thing - Don't stop there stu. I'm sure you can dig deeper ? :OhYes:

What about Froch's tabloid cocaine bust ?

Or cheating on his new wife, masturbating himself blind into his Skype webcam before getting in his 4x4 and breaking the sound barrier before piling into a pedestrian before stepping out over his body and declaring himself the best offensive fighter in the world ?

Froch did his job and forced the stoppage - and now everyone who doesn't like him are crying they "had their dreams taken away from them" to quote Groves.

Whatever next, hanging an effigy of Howard Foster from a lamppost ?

I haven't seen the WBA belt round his waist either, not including the WBO is just his way of taking a dig at Calzaghe, one of the few fighters ever to win all 4 belts and if it wasn't for vacating the IBF because Stieglitz meant nothing, would have held all 4 at once and there's only Bernard Hopkins that I know of that's done that.

It is interesting. For years people have said that if Froch was known by the public, he would be loved, and the fact he had loads of his fights on Primetime was a real shame

It seems now people are getting to know him (not personally of course) they think he is a tosser.

Maybe he is bitter that he had these great fights, yet he isn't a big name and hasn't made the mega bucks other fighters have??
