Khan vs floyd ..i think it will be a good fight...

Post by stevedoc »

we've all read the stories that khan is next for mayweather and we've all heard the "he don't deserve it" from many people but i think it would be a much better fight than some think ,ok khan isn't the no1 welter weight contender and maybe he isn't top of the list but khan has a much better chance than Guerrero ever did and his speed will give floyd more trouble than we've seen for a long time .
khan has trouble with physical fighters not master boxers like floyd ,i'm not saying khan will win but he will put up a better fight than anyone else @147 . the bit that worries me about the fight is that Khan seems to of gone backwards under virgil hunter ,he's lost what made him dangerous before and now seems uncomfortable boxing to instructions. i think to beat floyd you need a taller fighter with speed and decent power which khan has he's just not as good as floyd but his style is much more suited to beating floyd than canelo's or ortiz's ever was.

i don't expect khan to win at all but i like the fight better than floyd vs garcia that would be another easy night for floyd stylisticly

Yeah i agree, I think Khan's speed gives Floyd problems early on until Floyd starts to time Amir and eventually comes away with a points win. I don't see Floyd winning via KO or shutout points like many seem to think.

On a side note, whatever we may think of Khan, when he's on the ball, there aren't many fighters who through more beautiful combinations. I remember seeing an interview with Virgil Hunter who said something similar but also conceded he has a lot to work on in other areas.

Floyd wants a KO, hence Khan being in the running. Khan is chinny and gives his all which makes for exciting fights but I don't think he 'deserves' the Floyd fight. I'd much rather see Floyd fight Khan's conqueror, Garcia.

Khan is blessed with great speed and combinations but he has gone backwards under Virgil IMO.

He would stand a better chance with Freddie in his corner. Still would be a great fight as Floyd is not a risk taker.

I don't think Khan is deserving of the monster payday, but good luck to him should he get the fight.

Regarding the fight, I'd think it would be another masterclass from Floyd with a stoppage around the 8th round mark, after some electric and energetic early bursts from Khan pleases the crowd but ultimately, miss the mark and frustrate as the fight unravels and Khan accepts defeat.

Khan hasn't even fought at the weight but we all know that and it makes it extremely difficult to warrant his shot at the P4P #1.

We have all seen how Khan has looked 'buzzed' virtually every time a decent shot connects on his chin ever since the Garcia pasting against lesser opposition. Maybe the extra weight will help but you've seriously got to be worried about Khan's punch resistance for someone so young at only 26. I can't help but be worried about his health should he continue boxing for another 5 years or so. There are a lot of big punches at LWW (Garcia, Matthysse, Provodnikov) that Khan should obviously avoid and I think moving up to WW will be an even bigger struggle for that chin.

You can see Khan in the big marquee fights in the future as a name that the US public like because they know he will do the 'chicken dance' at some point or other and look pretty good getting KO'd but how long can that last?

Fights against, Mayweather, Broner, Pacman, Garcia and possibly JMM would be entertaining enough but the result, I think, would be the same. I even struggle to see Khan beating a fighting fit Alvarado (not looking like a skeleton).

Khan v Mayweather = Good payday and good KO stoppage for Floyd's highlight reel.

Agreed but you could've said the same about Guerrero until he fought Mayweather

i agree i don't like khan under hunter, you can't change fighters that much they all have their own style and i don't think khan suits hunter or the other way round

Garcia hasn't got a chance against floyd ,way to slow to bother floyd . i know he beat khan but garcia is taylor made for floyd to look good against .

I think he may rattle Mayweather early on a bit like mosely did but I expect the outcome to be similar. mayweather can adapt to any fighter.

It'll be one counter right hand from Mayweather once he's got the timing down and goodnight Amir. Sadly.

Khan hasn't got a chance against Floyd either, hence why I'd rather see Garcia as at least he deserves it.

Khan has speed yes, that's about it really, you say Garcias too slow but he was quick enough to
catch Khan who has what............... speed !, so quick a well past his best and weight class
Julio diaz nearly knocked him out.
Danny Garcia is not my favourite fighter but he's got better fundementals than most, can punch
and he's earned it unlike khan.

it would be a very boring fight , i'd rather see 5 decent rds than 12 boring rds with floyd picking of garcia but not going for the kill in case garcia lands a big shot .

Khan leaves a lot of openings when he lets his hands go, should be entertaining while it lasts.

exactly ....i think floyd needs an exciting fight so casual fans don't get bored and khan could be the fighter to make it exciting

Be good for aslong as it lasts!!

As for deservant, who really belongs in there with floyd? There is knowbody out there that beats him now. There has been potential threats to floyds O' but he never really thought people at there height of success.

Khans speed causes him problems & gives him somthing to struggle with so it's just good to see him overcome that one element regardless of khan losing

As above, can see Khan making it exciting and putting Mayweather under some pressure, possibly even being ahead on the scorecard after 1st few rounds but between rounds 2 and 5 I'd expect he walks onto a counter right hand and Floyd gets the highlight reel KO he badly wants

i cant see mayweather losing many rounds on scorecards these days

because hes a Defensive master he can sit on the ropes and take shots most of the shots on the gloves and will still be given the round due to his world famous Defence

if anyone else sat on the ropes and did this they would get the round given against them most of the time and the pressure fighter would take the round.

Khan gets stopped in this one , his chin cannott take a clean accurate shot

If you think of the way he was allowed to continue in the Prescott fight (wrongly ) and then in the maidana fight which turned out to be a good thing

think of those and then the George Groves stoppage ,
