hide vs haye - cruiserweight - why did this never happen?

Hi

A question i've never seen asked/answered anywhere - 2 british cruisers who both also fought at heavy...

But why did they never fight at cruiserweight? or even heavyweight?

Irrespective of Haye now being injured and Hide not boxing anymore - just seems strange that a good matchup at cruiser especially never happened?

by the looks of it on the records hide wasnt really in any type of contention of fighting a decent opponent until 2007 after haye was division number 1 and his next fight was Enzo mac which was a title fight, then haye moved up. Even after 2007 it looks like hide was just fighting journeymen.

fast hands - both good cruisers and heavys (hide gave a peak Riddick Bowe a good go) both knock out power and both british !!!

i just suprised someone didn't put this together in either division for some decent money.. would of been a good fight.

I really don't know why hide didn't get a cruiserweight title shot he was working his way up the rankings and beating everyone... didn't seem too bothered and according to his herbie hide's book invested his bowe purse wisely... - fair play.

But purely from a british boxing perspective would of like to have seen that.

i remember him getting cut in prizefighter and pulling out because he didnt want the cut to get worst and ruin his chances of of a world title shot. Then i think shortly after someone was murdered at his house or something and he went off the rails, i may be way off the mark on this.

Finn - your not wide off the mark - what u said rings a bell , but i would of thought that after all his problems were sorted with the cut and outside of the ring he would of signed up to a world cruiser title match and fought, i know he also said if my memory serves me right he had a back injury too... but again peak hide vs peak haye would of been good !

The odd thing for me was when Hide did Prizefighter and pulled out because he was #1 WBC contender (if memory serves) and then didn't get a shot.
