Broner needs to come down in weight

Post by billy nelson »

Its very clear Broner isn't strong enough for Welter and needs to discipline himself to get down to LW or LWW, let's face it all SFW ans LW were tiny in comparison.
I always said when someone stuck with him he'd struggle in the second half of a fight, hopefully he keeps his big gob shut and gets on with what he's good at!

Is it possible for him to get back to lightweight? There may not be the money he wants, but he can be a top boxer in that division.

I very much doubt it. I could possibly see him going down to 140 though.

I suppose that would be a lot better he obviously isn't a 147 fighter.

I know I will get it but I've always said Ricky would beat Broner, take a serious look at his opponents at SFW and LWvhes massive in comparison he wouldn't have that against Ricky plus when he moved to 147 he fought a light puncher in a fight I thought was very close.
So yes if we look good beating Crawford Broner at 140 would be great

I suppose that Demarco is a lot smaller than Ricky then.

I completely agree with you Billy. He was never big enough at the weight, I said that as soon as the step up was announced.

i'm glad broner got beat up ,not because i dislike him but more because i think it's been getting a bit stupid with weight classes lately ,i mean it used to be if a fighter won titles at 3 weights it was something a bit special but now fighters seem to jump 2 weight classes and be just as strong and i'm glad in a way that broner failed at welter ,broner isn't a welter weight and i think he justed wanted to copy floyd and he couldn't be bothered to make the weight.

the trouble broner has is that 140 has some good fighters and i think he might struggle there to especialy now we seen he can be hurt and how to do it .

If Burns loses to Crawford im wondering what the excuse will be this time... The jaw wasnt healed properly? He couldnt spar as much as he needed to? He overtrained? He went to see a proclaimers tribute act the night before and didnt get in till 3 in the morning? His dog died?

Why have people jumped on the thread and turned it about Ricky Burns.. It's about Broner. Clearly he was too small as Billy said.. Let's be honest here. He makes a lot if money outside boxing doing what he likes to do.. 2 months ago he looked easily about 16 stone on Mayweather all Access for Alvarez fight.. I believe he is playing at boxing and we may or may not see him fight again. Maidana is a very very good fighter..

As if Broner is gonna retire from boxing. He makes too much money from it for that.

He was on all access for Mayweather v Alvarez he was rapping and he was some size.. Maybe not 16 stone but I would say he needed to come down a few stone for Welterweight.. As for how much money he makes boxing.. He makes a lot mor out with boxing. He's a huge rapper on The USA and can guarantee he earns more that way without getting punched

You seriously trust a word that comes out of allegedly's mouth about a fighter that's left him?

It's not just about his weight that is the "problem" he was eating left hooks all night, his defence isn't as good as what he thinks. If he went down to 140 Garcia would knock him out within 6 with his left hook, I would also favour Matthysse and Provodnikov over him too. He still has a good future just the not great one he thought and wants
