Tony Bellew V Valery Brudov

Post by mullenman »

Great fight for Tony but it will be very hard to win
Brudov has been in the best cruiserweights so fair to play Tony for taking such a hard fight first time at the weight,
If he comes through this fight Id say he could get an eliminator with Tony's ranking,,

These are the fights that the people want to see Eddie so start making more of them,

Cant wait for the Liverpool and Scotland shows but the Cardiff and Hull shows look fairly poor to be honest,,,

I recall tony looking huge when he was a prospect, fighting above light heavyweight.

hopefully the move will be beneficial and he carried the weight well.

despite really appreciating Stevenson and kovalev's big KOs last year, I would love to see bellew and cleverly achieving as cruiserweights and resuming their rivalry (their fight really delivered some action and intensity).

there are some big, 'ard bastards at cruiser but hernandez and huck (who, I think rematches arslan next weekend) both look on their last legs going by their previous bouts (both wars, goes without saying).

This will be an easy fight for Brudov, he looked finished in the Afolabi fight. Doesn't seem to posses the power anymore either.

Was expecting a tougher test for Bellew if I am honest

Seems a decent fight to me, a pretty ambitious one really for Tony's first proper fight at cruiserweight. In terms of getting the balancing act right - a respectable opponent, but at the same time a winnable fight for the home fighter - it seems to tick most of the boxes.

Cardiff good Munroe v Selby, Rees v Buckland. Ochieng v Evans. Pace v Cook
On a Saturday night are you really going to watch these fights with your mates
Jason Cook V 4-6-1 is a nothing fight
Gavin Rees has won two fights in three years
Ochieng v Evans might not even make the TV
Munroe is over the hill at the top level,,

its not really a big time boxing card
my mates would probably not even know two of the names on the bill,,

I know every card can not be good like the Liverpool card but just a small bit disappointed that we will have to wait till the 1st of March for the first big card in the UK of the year on Sky sports

Are you nuts mate,
please give me a few reasons why the Cardiff Bill is better than the Liverpool bill,
I would not go to that bill with a free ticket

Really? You think Huck is on his last legs? Don't see it myself.

Selby vs Munroe is a very good fight, Munroe is better than anyone Selby has faced to date and is bringing a lot of desire into this fight. Don't be surprised if Munroe pulls this one off. You can say the Quigg results show that he is declining but I think it is fairly obvious the weight played a big factor in that fight and without that issue against Selby Munroe will be a bigger force in this fight.

Selby vs Rees will be competitive and entertaining with both fighters fighting for their careers in a way. They both come forward which will undoubtedly make a great fight to watch and it is highly competitive too.

You also have Joshua stepping up, a pick em fight in Evans vs Ochieng, Cook vs Pace will be competitive trust me don't just judge the records.

On the Liverpool you have one competitive fight on the card and that is Smith vs Saucedo which is a great fight BTW. Then you have Dodson vs Fielding which is a complete mismatch, Dodson has previously stated that he should retire if he didn't beat Paul Smith because he wouldn't have anything left yet he is facing an unbeaten hard hitting prospect? Who incidentally is probably better than Paul Smith. There is no reason which the Smith vs Fielding fight couldn't be made which would have added much more strength to the bill, yet both are going to be fighting weak opponents instead?

Then there is Bellew vs Brudov which wont be competitive either. Yes Brudov has been in with some good names but that was a long time ago. Brudov looked finished against Afolabi and that was two years ago, there is no evidence that he will do anything but decline further from that performance given the time gap. Bellew will have an easy nights work against him unless he has improved significantly from the Afolabi fight.

The Liverpool bill might have more name fighters but there isn't more competitive fights

Selby v Munroe should be an undercard fight rather than the main fight of a Saturday night on Sky sports,
Rees v Buckland might be an Ok fight but they will go no further in there careers,
AJ will have another easy knockout but he could be a class Act,
I honestly would not watch Cook and Pace if it was on in my back Garden- dirt fight-
I will guarantee you that the viewing figures for this will be much lower than Liverpool show,,,

you must be from the Valleys

From a promoters perspective I agree.

Just looked this guy up - he has boxed twice in the last 2 years, against opponents who were 1-0 and 7-53

He has a lot of wins but looking through his record without doing the exact maths it looks that about 90% of his wins came against opponents with losing records.

Just the right kind of opponent for Bellew looking to come back after a loss, hopefully Bellew and his promoters don't try to make this out to be something bigger than the Rumble in the Jungle or something daft.

They are still decent competitive fights though which is more than can be said for the Liverpool show.

Viewing figures doesn't mean that the fights are better though does it?

No i'm not from the Valleys

Only just noticed that Brudov isnt a natural cruiserweight. He's come into a fair number of fights weighing about a stone lighter than his opponents.

Acceptable fight following quite a devastating defeat, no more, no less. Got anhilated vs Ola and this was the fella that got shutout against a way past it Virgil Hill pushing 10 years ago.

Well, in all fairness once this guy goes under the spotlight it gets a bit harder to accept he's as good as a prime 190lbs Holyfield !!!!

It would be good to see Bellew face a British title level cruiserweight, the domestic division needs a big name to bring it to life. It would be good to see the payday going to a British lad too. Bellew vs Dickinson, Dawson, Afolabi or Askin would be fine in my book.

I would of preferred to see that kind of matchup to be honest. You could of added Camacho or Simmons to that list aswell.

So, an unbeaten opponent and a vastly experienced opponent - sounds like Brudov's still in his prime :TU:

From whats been announced the show looks poor TBH. Not going to critisize Bellews opponent too much as he is coming back from a defeat. Hes' not my favourite fight but big respect for coming back so soon after a bad beating at a higher weight.

The big dissapointment on this show is Rocky Fielding and Paul Smith fighting on the card and not against each other. That for me is a genuine headliner which would get the public of Liverpool interested. Fielding needs good rounds now and I think he could stop Dodson in 3 rounds which he will learn nothing from.

Stephen Smiths opponent may have 51 wins but only 7 inside the distance ????

My interest in the card will depend on who Mitchell and Brook fight.

Best choice for Brook would be Julio Diaz. He has gone the distance with Porter and Khan and his demands wouldn't be as big as they were presviously ( think Eddie wanted him instead of Senchenko). Brook is capable of stopping him which would look impressive.

Brook will be fighting a chump. Eddie has already pretty much said as much. They've got a direct shot at the title now, they're not going to risk it against anyone with a pulse or that has any kind of chance of winning basically. It's disappointing.

Im willing to bet that it will be some woefully bad imported south american. Probably an Argentinian with a padded record that looks vastly better than he actually is.
