Groves v froch reasons why it won't happen.

Post by hurlock »

The anticipation for this fight is massive & I can't wait for an announcement or decision to be made.i think this era has got use to dissapointments of fights not happening which is a shame & I wouldn't be shocked if this don't happen

If it doesn't happen, I don't think we will ever truly know why. There will be plenty of mud slinging from both fighters coupled with their internet fan-boys defending both to the hilt. I hope the fight does happen, so we don't need to encounter months and months of pointless debate and arguments on here.

there's no reason for groves to be scared as he gave froch a boxing lesson :) unless he might be scared if his fist can take that much damage from froch's head :)

what i think has happened is that Foch had this plan in his head that he would take care of groves first time around and then get a big fight in vegas following the route calzaghe took at the end of his career and in frochs head he beat groves so now he wants chavez in vegas .BUT everyone else wants to see froch vs groves not froch vs chavez ...

i think froch is just starting to realize that the public really want the groves fight so his team have started to make noises about a second fight .and of course hearn wants a slice of groves if he is going to let froch fight him .

I think it may not happen due to a combination of things, Groves being greedy, Froch not particularly keen on fighting and losing, Eddie worried he cannot sign Groves and Froch will lose if he fights again....

the fight will happen as the creditability of matchroom boxing and eddie hearn is on the line

i also think that George is starting to be gready and he has has lost a lot of the fans he earned through the last fight already

There is no question if but a question of when. It is just a case sorting out the cash and other stuff. George Groves wants the best deal possible for him without getting tied down to a long term with Handsome Eddie. And Carl Froch needs the fight to show he is still the best 12stone fighter in the country as well as not being on the way down.

I think Groves should tell them to stuff the 15% on offer and just move on. Let Froch live with the fact that his victory was unjust, which I'm sure people will remind him of long into his retirement.

Eddie said he's getting them both in the same room this weekend to thrash out a deal.

Hopefully by Monday the dust has settled and the fight is on.

You see Groves' face after fight? Groves taught Froch a boxing lesson, then decided to throw it away.

Froch has never been a great boxer, but he lasts the distance, Groves was throwing it away. I don't think Groves will be scared, I don't think Froch will be scared, but I worry Groves has got too big for his boots, he was making out like he won the fight, there was sill 3 rounds left and Groves wasn't looking ain a good way, we know from past Froch can keep going until final bell.

Hope this fight happens, but Groves needs to realise that Froch holds the cards, not him, and stop being so irritating. Coudl end up making Froch vacating just to p*ss him off, we all know Froch is a bit of prima donna.

@JimJim2009....the Eddie Hearn hotel summit sounds entirely feasible and I can't help thinking that the proposed Chavez Jr has been used by Carl to remind Groves that he's the junior partner in this arrangement and that other options can and will be taken if required.

I'd personally like to see Froch properly monster Chavez Jr (who is a weight-cheat and WBC ringer) and then having taught Junior some manners he can sign-off with a huge fight with George in September.

Froch wasn't looking really sharp either and hid away after the post fight interview leaving McCracken to explain that they always knew that Groves would be a hard fight due to his power and speed. Froch didn't know he'd been knocked down hard.

Groves holds some pretty good cards himself and doesn't need to be bossed around; if it comes off it'll be interesting who gets booed into the ring this time.

I put 'Groves is scared' and with trepidation I awaited the loading of the results, having a feeling I'd be the only one...

Frochs stock has went down, on this site at least, to the bare minimum. There's no way either are scared of each other

If it's at The City Ground it will be much, much more hostile to Groves. Though cheering Froch in Manchester, they weren't diehard Froch fans, in Notts they will be.

I think it's clear Froch knows he's starting to fade and wants to cash out in style, not losing a decision to his arch rival. It's financially understandable.

If Froch does beat Groves again, in Nottingham, it's almost a perfect way to go. It couldn't have worked out any better.

At this late stage of his career I hope Froch goes for a fight with international significance rather than just bow out after a domestic grudge match. Win or lose, I think it would be a sad anti-climax to a great career.

If Froch was to fight Groves aganst and wins I think Carl would continue. Atleast if it's for a fight with Ward.

Stopping Groves in Nottingham will be a much more triumphant way to go than losing a shut out to Andre Ward in America.
