True.

Yesterday, Warren was saying he's lining up a big fight for Hatton in the autumn with Vivian Harris or Spadafora. He said Harris was available because Miguel Cotto had turned down a shot at him.
Today, Realboxing.com are saying Harris and Cotto are still negotiating and that Paul Spadafora is the man for Hatton. Warren loves banding these big names around for Hatton but in the end all he brings over is another lightweight.

I was always under the impression that Cotto would be on Harris' radar very shortly.if not next immediate fight (post N'dou) then definately the one after that.
If these noises we have all heard over the past 6 weeks are true, then Spadafora would be next (AUTUMN) fight for Manchesters finest, by default

I'd be disappointed if Spadafora were brought over. Sure he's a neat boxer but he won't break an egg at 140.

At least Harris has that crunching win over Hurtado to help hype things up.

he said after the Dprin fight he was moving up. He was a tall lightweight, doesn't surprise me. Thing is, 135 suited him so much better. at 140 he will be punished for his lack of power and suspect chin.

Spadafora is no stranger to 140,
He’s been there 13 times all ready, including his last fight at 140½.
(I have just posted most of his weights.)

He is taller (175m) than Ricky and his upper body is well built,
so his extra weight will be in his legs which will add to his punching power.

IMO his power is underrated because he’s a safety first fighter. 8)

His power may be underrated but it's still nothing to write home about. Spadafora hasn't stopped anyone since 1999, and that was on cuts. His record to me, isn't the record of a top class fighter. If his problems are sorted out then this is the right fight for Hatton.

The names on Spadafora’s record are more impressive than Hatton’s.

The IBF title he held has more esteem than the WBU.
Paul would be the attraction that Showtime would want to attract the US audience. 8)

The way Ricky sticks his chin out and the fact that he cuts easily must be very attractive to the Spadafora camp.
They obviously feel Hatton is the right fight for Paul.

Of course his record's better than Hatton's, we all know that Ricky's being wrapped in cotton wool. I've never suggested otherwise. However, i see nothing on Spadafora's record that stands out as a great performance.
I just think that out of the possible, credible fights out there for Hatton, Spadafora would be the easiest.
Spad's camp probably see the weaknesses in Hatton that you do, but IMO Spad doesn't have what's necessary to expliot them.

Just out of interest, how is Spad viewed out in the states? Is he an easily recognisable name that could give Hatton some credibility?

Spad is a tricky fighter and I can see him giving Hatton alot of trouble but I am in no postion to give a prediction. But I'll say that the charges against Spad will probably not go through seeing I don't think the chick he shot thinks it was him because he is like marrying her soon. Not shore when though but soon.

In all honesty, the guy has fought most of his career at lightweight, with exception to a few fights in which he weighed 140. He started off as a super feather, while Hatton has fought at Light Welter throughout his pro career (I heard he was weighing welter as an amateur).

Spadafora has gone 6 years and 14 fights without scoring a KO. I think it's safe to say he's feather fisted.

I actually think (like my friend Booberry Crunch) that Spaddy, even if he's not a big puncher at 140, would represent a step up for Tricky Ricky.

Which is why it'll never happen before Spaddy turns 30, and gets beaten down a few times by real top fighters.

Oh, wait - FW actually threw out the name of a top guy, though, so I suppose he has real intentions of making the fight.

Spaddy is a good boxer but isn't dangerous so far as punching power goes...........light welter is one division in boxing where you don't need to bring guys from other weight divisions to make good fights.

Like someone mentions above he might not even be allowed to enter the country.

Harris, Ndou, Mitchell have always been mentioned but in reality.....
