Tyson Fury vs Joey Abell - who have you got??
Tyson Fury vs Joey Abell - who have you got??
The late switch in opponent for Fury's comeback fight is a definite improvement on his original match up against the Argentinian journeyman Basille.
Abell has 29 wins, 28 by knockout and put Pulev on the floor for a count in his last fight a couple of months ago. He can DEFINITELY bang.
Fury has been inactive for nearly a year - through no fault of his own, but because of David Haye's 11th hour *cough* 'injuries.
Fury was also put on the canvas in his last fight by former Cruiserweight champ Steve USS Cunningham.
Who do you have in this fight??
I think Abell will go for the KO from the first bell and Fury will attempt to keep on the end of his underrated jab and use his size and weight advantage to clinch and wear Abell out.
By about round 3 Abell will be disheartened and exhausted and Fury will flatten him.

If Fury cant beat the Journeyman Abell, he should pack it in.
Re: Tyson Fury vs Joey Abell - who have you got??
Good fight for 3/4 rounds and then a massacre. Better replacement than original opponent though. Reasonable par for the course fight in the circumstances

There might have been a count but it was certainly no knockdown as I remember it.Maxsplit wrote:put Pulev on the floor for a count in his last fight a couple of months ago

Yeah it was a slip which the ref mistakenly took for a legit knock down. Pulev actually started balancing on one leg after getting up to show to the ref that it wasnt a knockdown lol.Kilburn wrote:There might have been a count but it was certainly no knockdown as I remember it.Maxsplit wrote:put Pulev on the floor for a count in his last fight a couple of months ago

Abell is a career journeyman opponent. He's there to lose and he knows it. Makes a fair living at it when he isn't installing toilets, framing a house or whatever it is he does to keep a roof over his head. Be hilarious if he accidentally knocked Fury on his keister.

Easy one this, a Tyson Fury KO. There's no way this Abell guy causes him any problems at all.

Fury by stoppage, pretty much when he wants to end it.

Joey Unabell to pull off the victory here!
ah frack it, I might do a fun accumulator involving Abell KO. If Abell can drop Pulev he can drop Fury.

Oh, another great opponent for Fury
Fighting no hopers is apparently a good thing. Pffft...utterley pointless, as most of his fights bar the odd few, are.

I think the name of the game here may be to get some rounds in. Fury will out-box Abell for four rounds, give or take, then start to pile on the power punches and in around 5-6 rounds Abell will be TKO'd. However, I think Abell's best chances are from the 1st-3rd rounds. He will be trying to make a show of it, but I think Fury's size, reach, overall better ring generalship will prevent Abell from really making a dent.

I had someone tell me this was a brilliant show... yet not one fight actually looks competitive...

Not sure if he weighed in with his clothes on but Fury came in at 19 stone 8lbs. That's his career highest by 4lbs.

Re: Tyson Fury vs Joey Abell - who have you got??
All important question is now: what outrageous tricks are the British referees cooking up right now?
I can easily see Fury getting decked only to get up, wobble Abell and be handed the getaway 'stoppage'.
I can also see Johnson's low activity being deemed 'unable to continue' and Chisora becoming 'the first man to stop Johnson'.
Anyone know who the referees are?

Re: Tyson Fury vs Joey Abell - who have you got??
Personally I don't think so. Abell was battered by Pulev only a few weeks back. I'm not sure how he's recovered and how much training he'd done before he got the call. He was a sucker for a jab and Fury's jab is decent. I'm not quite sure why they've gone with a southpaw but it shouldn't make much difference.reggaereggae wrote:Yes but can Joey Abell take advantage?Aden wrote:Not sure if he weighed in with his clothes on but Fury came in at 19 stone 8lbs. I thought he's supposed to of been on a hard camp in Cannes? Sounds more like a jolly boys outing. You can see that he takes his career very seriously.Aden wrote:Not sure if he weighed in with his clothes on but Fury came in at 19 stone 8lbs. That's his career highest by 4lbs.

He was 22stone at the start of camp apparently.columbo wrote:I thought he's supposed to of been on a hard camp in Cannes? Sounds more like a jolly boys outing. well I suppose if you put it in context like that it's a good bit of weight shifting. He shouldnt be blowing up to 22 stone though ffs.jameswilson wrote:He was 22stone at the start of camp apparently.columbo wrote:I thought he's supposed to of been on a hard camp in Cannes? 22 stone isn't as much as it sounds on his frame. The lad is absolutely huge.

I doubt you see Wlad getting near that kind of weight though. He probably doesnt hit 20.Aden wrote:22 stone isn't as much as it sounds on his frame. The lad is absolutely huge.
