sonny liston vs nino valdez

Post by evrenb »

Hi

Does anyone remember back in the day of older Ring Magazines when they used to have a classified section selling old films? I distinctly remember that this fight was listed on a Liston compilation. Now it could have been Boxing Illustrated??

Anyone remember this??

In the early 80's, under Bert Sugar, Ring used to have a Classifieds section in which readers seeking to sell, buy, or trade items could take out ads for free. I used to place ads up every few months when I was a young teenager.

There was also the Super 8 film company, Ring Classics, that used to have full-page ads in Ring selling old fights, including compilations. I'm sure most of what they sold is up on YouTube now. I wonder if Jacobs & Cayton had anything to do with Ring Classics? I'm sure the fights were from their film library and were their edits.

Ring Classics was what Jimmy Jacobs named the company which sold the 8MM Films, they were sold from a warehouse in Happapauge N.Y. If I am correct.
I remember seeing the advertisements in Ring Magazine and Boxing Illustrated.
