The last significant five-fight series

Post by squiggy »

I thought I'd be able to find this info, but I've poked around and haven't turned it up. I don't know of anything since the Robinson-LaMotta days, but there's a lot I don't know. Who are the last two significant fighters to face each other five times?

Last one I can think of is Dennis Andries vs Tom Collins

The last fight of the Archie Moore-Harold Johnson series was 3 years later than the last Robinson-LaMotta so I guess that was the last significant one. There have been a few 4-fight series since then.

Most recently Israel Vazquez vs Rafael Marquez, and of course Pacquiao vs Marquez. I wouldn't be shocked if Pac and Marquez wound up having a 5th fight sometime within the next year or year and a half.
