Just watched the fight, I really like Joshua and its very tempting to rush him along as there is no one in the division with pure talent that could beat him on boxing skill. Yes, Tyson Fury maybe a step too far in terms of experience but it would be an interesting fight. Joshua still looks a bit upright and a little stiff, he's just like a young Frank Bruno. He's not been hit on the chin yet so we don't know how he would react or even what kind of chin he has, thats the worry with matching him up too high. Yes he might have a good chin and take a good shot, but then again might have a poor shot resistance or lack of experience on how to deal with a shot.

Matching him up to high could prove his downfall in the lack of experience category. Hearn is going higher in his next fight but looking at the British rankings I would love to see him fight Audley Harrison next, It would draw a bit of interest and put bums on seats, Harrison would sell the fight im sure, however there would be only one out come and that would be a easy night for Joshua, another 1 rounder, however it would give him a taste of a top 10 opponent.

I would go as far as say get him in the ring with someone like David Price, Price won't fight him though and thats a fact, no way would Price want to end his career getting beat by a 5 fight novice.

Realistically, I think Joshua could beat any of the heavyweights in Britain today, but its do you want to risk getting beat early on by lack of experience. Maybe Michael Sprott next? If Anthony wants the British title by the end of the year surely he needs to fight the top 5 in the UK. I think Sprott or Harrison next, it has to be, then maybe another outside UK fighter in the top 20 in Europe, or even Price, Price would be a great match up for a final eliminator for the British title, but im sure Price would not have the stomach for Joshua so maybe the winner of Ian Lewison and John McDermott who fight for the English title and deserve their shot at a British title. Joshua wouldn't have any difficulty stopping any one in the UK, apart from Fury, im saying that purely on lack of experience to deal with a chin shot and im sure Fury would land a few.

The British title is still vacant but mostly like will be filled before Joshua gets his crack but who ever holds it by the time Josh gets to him at the end of the year its a certainty that by Christmas, if Joshua gets a title shot its his.

an experienced and durable heavy is what Joshua needs. Sprott is a good call and then a couple of others of similar ilk. british title at 8-10 fights is about right and then world at fifteen certainly looks the best prospect in the division.

He hasn't fought anyone particularly smart or durable yet. He'd learn more from a fight with someone like Zac Page than he would from smashing someone with a better record.

I like the idea of him running through a few of the British guys next. Problem is, four potential opponents are tied up right now. Big John v Lewison and Larry v Sexton.

Couple of quick outings followed by the winners of them two fights, throw in Sprott at some stage and he will be ticking along nicely.

Early days for Joshua and I'm a bit reluctant to judge him. But I do see a lot of Bruno in him. A live opponent, with a punch, would be an interesting match. I don't think he's got natural movement or the 'madness' thats sometimes required to walk through punches.

One thing I will say though, he better hope that Tyson Fury is retired by the time he's challenging for honours, he's exactly the type of opponent he NEVER wants to fight. And I've also got to say that Joshua would have a job on his hands right now with the younger cousin.

But time will tell. A bit wooden at the moment.

Page, Sexton, Skelton & Sprott should be his next 4 fights, in any order.

He'd go at least 24-30 rds in there unless his power is phenomanally good. all winnable and all offer a different problem to contend with. I know skelton & sprott are old/past it but both are durable and if you ain't good enough they'll take the W still.

Joshua does look good, but he needs somebody throwing back at him, or he will fall into the David Price "no defence" category.

The problem is though the British guys will only show him certain stuff (that's part of the reason Price fell into the trap you mention). Once you're on that British title treadmill people expect you to fight recognised names. Then you get the British belt and people expect the Euro title, which again will see you facing a certain type of fighter. You could find yourself running into guys like Thompson at fringe worldclass, and they are showing you things you aren't prepared for.

Getting him in with some of the crafty but not so dangerous American guys before worrying about British or Euro rankings would be very helpful IMO.

Indeed.

Tyson has suddenly become a monster who walks through punches and don't stop throwing.

People talk about him 'always getting up' but that's because he has yet to fight anyone who carries serious power. The two fighters who have dropped him pretty heavily are powder puff punchers compared to elite level power. If and when Fury does fight someone with elite power ( its not a coincidence he hasn't so far IMO, its a calculated move by his handlers ) I don't think he is getting up when put down. As much as I love Tyson, he will feature on someone's highlight reel of big KO's at some point.

The "type of fighter Joshua never wants to fight" is someone like the Cuban lad who gave him fits in the first round of the Olympics. A well schooled, slick operator who can move superbly and counter at will.

For £5m Mickey :TU:

I have no doubt Tyson himself would fight anybody. His handlers won't get him in with an elite level banger unless its for huge money and or a title shot.

Big, hard hitting heavyweights are not on his record. I think the Cunningham fight might tell us why. Can't blame them, why risk it when he will be guaranteed a title shot at some point?

He needs a few limited, but durable opponents.

Needs to get rounds under his belt and learn how to handle slippery styes and spoilers.

Rush him along and the wheels may come off very quickly.

He looks great but hasn't gone more than two rounds yet.

Sprott or a Rogan in a few fights but not just yet.

Price and Lomechenko should be a warning.

Don't throw him in the deep end yet.

Anyone outside of the Matchroom press office knew that wasn't the case. Stopped 12 times in 16 losses with four of them in the first two rounds.
