Warren Signs Birmingham's Joe Costello
Quality signing for Warren.

With Costello and Langford joining Frankie Gavin in Warren's stable surely now is the time for a show in Birmingham with Frankie headlining for a major title?
If Costello shows dedication to the pro game he could well go far - the talent in there undoubtedly.
Below there is footage of Costello sparring IBF super feather champ Mendez in the states:

Yh there's gonna be a big show in the midlands in June.
Joe Costello is a very talented kid, I like him has a fighter & a person, nice quiet, respectful kid. I personally am looking forward to watching him fight in the pro's, and won't be surprised with him winning titles, great young talent

Alba seems pretty certain. And he is in the trade. Not sure how gym shows in Scotland put you in the loop for Wazza shows down here though?
Re: Warren Signs Birmingham's Joe Costello
Boxingcutsmans also in the trade, in the Midlands and he's mates with Frankie Gavin, who's also said he's fighting in Birmingham in the summer, if they both say there's a show there, I'd say that right now there's currently one in the works.mickey1975 wrote:Alba seems pretty certain. Sarcasm, young man. Alba just likes disagreeing with me, even if I'm right.
Re: Warren Signs Birmingham's Joe Costello
Hope fw does bring a big show to brum. With gavin langford now costello on his books he can do it. Fw works well with local promoter errol johnson who has a very good stable of fighters to fill the undercard. His got british lightweight champ gethin. Troy james has a final eliminator at purse bids. Chris keane. Jay welborn grant cunningham and a host of names.wud b good for the area and frankie proved he can sell a show out at walsall where it was sold out weeks b4

Frankie confirms in this interesting interview that a Brum/West Mids venue is in the works for June.

Shame he has boxed so infrequently close to home in the past but hopefully with the new signings more shows will be scheduled for Birmingham over the coming season.

Re: Warren Signs Birmingham's Joe Costello
Joe is a good lad, was an excellent amateur as a junior, had great skills and very good movement, he has bulked up since them days and is much stronger, he used to fight a lot with his hands down, now he has a good high tight guard and conserves energy, perfect for the pro game, he could become a champ.
Re: Warren Signs Birmingham's Joe Costello
Yes they are considering a big show for June in the Midlands (not necessarily in Brum ....). Nothing has been confirmed as of yetmickey1975 wrote:Aren't they talking June/July for a big show there?
Re: Warren Signs Birmingham's Joe Costello
Why are there never big shows in Birmingham? It's a great city and obviously central for those travelling in.

Whats the craic with Jordan Clayton The Law? Will he be eligible to regain his licence anytime soon? The Law wrote:Yes they are considering a big show for June in the Midlands (not necessarily in Brum ....). I believe he got done for fighting in Solihull after his debut win.
He would be an exciting addition to the Birmingham/Midlands scene.

They're prone to rioting!Sklar wrote:Why are there never big shows in Birmingham? It's a great city and obviously central for those travelling in.
Re: Warren Signs Birmingham's Joe Costello
Most of the venues are either too small, or too big like the NEC and NIA, I don't think there's anywhere that can fit 4-5,000 in and there isn't anyone who could top the bill there, only Frankie Gavin and it would take a big show to come close to filling one of the big arenas.Sklar wrote:Why are there never big shows in Birmingham? Re: Warren Signs Birmingham's Joe Costello
What level do you think he could be a champion at? Obviously its early days but I don't know anything about these lads FW has just recently signed up, who is the most talented out of the 4? What realistic levels can they reach? Can you guys fill me in please.Anzi wrote:Joe is a good lad, was an excellent amateur as a junior, had great skills and very good movement, he has bulked up since them days and is much stronger, he used to fight a lot with his hands down, now he has a good high tight guard and conserves energy, perfect for the pro game, he could become a champ.
Re: Warren Signs Birmingham's Joe Costello
He was no 1 in the world at one point as a kid, since he has left he has been sparring with top class fighters, holding his own, he was due to make debut in the states, but it fell through, he will be a champion, at what level though is too early to say, maybe British or commonwealth, who knows how far he can go after that ? based on his ability.digzee wrote:What level do you think he could be a champion at? Re: Warren Signs Birmingham's Joe Costello
If not Brum where? Plenty of small hall type places (Walsall Town Hall, Wolverhampton Civic Hall etc) but for a big show only arenas I can think are NIA and NEC but like said these are big arenas theres nothing in between, Coventry Skydome maybe? The Law wrote:Yes they are considering a big show for June in the Midlands (not necessarily in Brum ....). Re: Warren Signs Birmingham's Joe Costello
Both Lee Beard's lads.
Jack Caterall is very decent too. Costello is a top class fighter.
Lee is a very underrated trainer and has a great deal of big fight experience, contacts abroad and other things to bring them on.
Very good fighters indeed.

I know its a little off topic but does anyone know what's going on with the young kid who went over to America to train at Mayweather's gym amongst others, I think he was about 20, i'm sure he was trained by his father and they used the wear tops saying something like "stamina for sale"

No Joe isn't trained by Beard, he is trained by his Dad, John Costello.
