Why all the Hatton chat? Ignore him!!

Post by Loftgroov »

Just done a quick check, and its amazes me how many threads on this forum are about Ricky Hatton... or threads that start off about something else and then end up talking about... Ricky Hatton.

And yes, this is a British forum, and Ricky a highly promoted British boxer (before any of you jokers point that out! ) ...but we give far to much "air time" to this Sports Network money spinning machine... and frankly I'm surprised people feel there is so much to say....

Boxrec should be at the forefront of leading a revolt against "Spits Notwork" fighters, who are clearly being undermatched in order to pad out their fighter's records and promote them as "World Champions".

We need to educate the masses, that Fronk Werren is laughing all the way to the bank each time he packs out the MEN Arena for a "world title" matchup.....

When Hatton (and he is equally guilty... he has a say in who he fights)finally decides to fight some noteworthy and credible opposition I'll pay him some attention...until then he can take his 35-0 record and stick it!

We slate Sven Ottke... this kid is just as bad.

david haye the future of british boxing
at least he is willing to take risks with the opponents.

Im not gonna bang on bout hatton as Ive beena staunch defender of his but I cant help hide my delusion with him at present.
What irks me more ids the fact he was on tv 3 weeks b4 the scheduled date of the 5th for his fight and blatently never gonna be in shape or liable to make the weight by that time.

So much for his devotion to his fans.

Im not gonna write him off though i do still really like him and think he could test himself against the best, Im just pretty pissed off at the whole circus at present.

Just my personal take.

Likewise, I feel Hatton will amount to something (eventually!) but until he is prepared to take the risks in order to get there, I just think the chap should get less air time.

He strikes me as very unprofessional in his attitude to the game also. Putting on huge amount of weight in between fights. You don’t see David Haye ever walking about as some big fat man in between fights. Haye could probably fight tomorrow and be perfectly fit and in tip top shape.

As could people like De La Hoya, Pacman, Morales and so on…. They are professionals, and act as such.

Ricky just trains for a few weeks at a time for each fight and then appears to the spend the remainder of his time entering pie eating contests.

This lack of professionalism will catch him out before long …. and I have nothing further to say about him until I see cast iron confirmation he is fighting Harris, Cotto, Judah or such like.

I love it. A Hatton based thread to complain about the multitude of Hatton based threads we already have.

I couldn't agree more especially on the Ottke point. With regards to opposition Ricky's starting to make Ottke look like Holyfield.

My only disagreement is with you suggesting that Hatton will eventually amount to something. At the moment it doesn't look like that will be the case. His career has been going nowhere for two years now. Tackie was a decent opponent, but is he better than Magee? I'd say not. Since the fight with Magee he's fought four massively overmatched guys, Phillips, and Tackie. So, IMO, his level of opposition hasn't really improved in two years (depending on his opponent after this one, it could be two and a half years).

As i've said elsewhere, as far as Hatton's concerned, i'm done for the time being.

Worst of all, there is no confirmation that we do not have to pay any extra for this.
