Tyson Vs McBride means NOTHING!

Surely all this fight means is that Tyson has lost his desire to fight at the top level and just wants the money.

This is a very poor match, no disrespect to McBride meant.

Mike Tyson is back in training ahead of a comeback fight against Ireland's Kevin McBride, according to reports.
The former world heavyweight champion has been working out in Arizona for a 31 July bout, claims Fightnews.com.

Tyson's manager, Shelly Finkel, has said his return to the ring will be in either St Louis, Missouri and Louisville, Kentucky.

And it was announced on Wednesday that Tyson has already been granted a license to fight in Missouri.

Tyson (50-4) was knocked out by Lennox Lewis in June 2002, and has fought just once since then - a 49-second KO win over Clifford Etienne in February 2003.

Fightnews.com said the 37-year-old was sparring with Australia's Justin Fortune to prepare for McBride, whose record reads 31-4-1.

Freddie Roach, who guided Tyson against Etienne, is again working with the American.

Maybe it would be more of a test to see if he could knock out McBride WHILST masturbating....

The whisper is McBride may be getting the push as Tyson's opponent. Tyson is being promoted by a K1 outfit with a huge Japanese market. McBride isn't well known enough to satisfy that market.

for tyson its been about money ever since the 2nd holyfield fight

Hitman,

McBryde is a big, slow fighter. I don't know if you ever saw Joe Bugner's boy in action - McBryde and Bugner sort of had the same style.

He's a big, slow fighter compared to a 40 year old Julius Francis.

Sure, McBride is a terrible opponent for Tyson but at this stage the training he gets un Freddie Roach is far more important than the fight itself.

The plan is for Tyson to have a couple of quick fights against bum's like Mcbride, than fight Joe Mesi in Nov/Dec to claim Joe's WBC no1 spot, than fight Vitali Klischko in April/May 2005.

Tyson will smash Vitali into a thousand little piece's, I think that much is obvious to even a casual boxing fan, considering Vitali has a Terrible defence and would leave himself open to Tyson's bombs. Unlike guys like Holyfield and Lewis, Vitali dosen't have the skill or ring savvy to keep Tyson away for too long

de varryl williamson in 5

and the mighty axel schulz in 9.

i'm all for easy-ish comebacks after over a year out but this is ridiculous.

McBride 6'7

Either Mike is treating the opposition with the contempt he probably deserves, or indeed McBride isn't going to be in the opposite corner.

i remember watching ringside a few years ago and barry mcguigan got `slightly` carried away with his description of mcbride, the way mcguigan was going on i was half expecting to see a character out of the old john wayne movie the quiet man come swaggering into the ring.
when the mcbride fight came on and he looked nothing like this john l. sullivan throwback we were all expecting and the fight was a forgettable affair.
gary mason took the piss out of mcguigan after the fight and even years later i have heard gary throw his `shoulders like a aircraft carrier landing deck` quote at mcguigan a few times.

I sat next to him years ago at the elephant and castle leisure centre.

He's huge about 6'6" with a fairly long neck if i remember rightly, he had a beard then to. Big gypsy following.

He will need all the gippos in the ring with him when he goes in with Tyson.

McBride is a useless palooka, Tyson is shot, and is only fighting for money, he's even said so himself, he has very little interest in the title now, outside of the fact that he would earn hugely for a title shot.

I was wondering if this was a mistake, as I know Fortune works as a comditioner for Boxers now such as Pacman.

Maybe he is helping to get Tyson well conditioned.

Yes, it must be a mistake, Fortune as far as I am aware doesn't spar any more, but he does work closely with Roach and Pacman.

It is a bit of a risk if you want to bet a lot. There is after all a foreseeable chance that Mcbride runs a bit and/or is defensive, tyson is slower and a bit more cautious, and he doesn't land his big shot until the second.

would anyone be so confident as to lay down 100?
