Out of two choices
Option 1. A real ring warrior who is in plenty of wars, a great chin and a never say die attitude a huge fan favourite, an all time great who makes enough money to live comfortably without ever having to work again(think like a greater/more successful version of Gatti), the catch is a high chance that all the wars and relying on your chin effects your brain as you get older ie punch drunk or worse.
Option 2. A decent world champ not a real fan favourite because of a safety first style and your will to win/heart is questioned in every loss you have as you fold when the going gets tough. After your career as a boxer is over you will have to get a job though you have made enough money that everything you own(house/cars/bikes and a few toys) is paid for but you will need money for monthly bills and food etc.
What would you rather be?
Re: What would you rather be?
I'd not like to take loads of punches, I imagine it's a real rush at the time but I'd sooner have less after I retired but be able to enjoy it rather than be ill and not be able to hold a thought in my mind.

Re: What would you rather be?
I have a massive amount of respect for all the ring warriors.
But the choice is easy for me; no amount of money is worth sacrificing my long term health.

Re: What would you rather be?
20 years ago i would of said the warrior not so sure now ,but i'd hate to be a fighter that fans boo'd like auderly harrison ..not sure
Re: What would you rather be?
Well if option one you say there's only a chance to be punch drunk then I'd take it.
Re: What would you rather be?
If I were a Boxer I'd have no choice but to be a Ring Warrior (or at least attempt to be one). I'm not fast enough to fight any other way.
I'd probably go with Option 1, but I definitely wouldn't want to do any long term damage to myself.

I would like to think that a "decent world champ" that doesn't try to live like Mayweather, that has his head screwed on like a Froch or Groves or Haye in the accountancy department should have money for his life for his bills, surely?

I said high chance but for the sake of the questions let's say it's a certainty.Othro wrote:Well if option one you say there's only a chance to be punch drunk then I'd take it.
In this world it doesn't matter what attributes you have now you have the choice of what you will have.gilgamesh wrote:If I were a Boxer I'd have no choice but to be a Ring Warrior (or at least attempt to be one). I'm not fast enough to fight any other way.

Yeah you live within your means meaning nice house, nice car etc but not excessive and you have the opportunity to get good education while you're fighting if you want. after you retire you have money not to go to work straight away but within 5 years or so you're going to have to go to work.macaca wrote:I would like to think that a "decent world champ" that doesn't try to live like Mayweather, that has his head screwed on like a Froch or Groves or Haye in the accountancy department should have money for his life for his bills, surely?

Re: What would you rather be?
i'll be the promoter of fighter no.1
Re: What would you rather be?
I would just do like Zellenoff, and regardless of performance, simply claim to have won all my fights and get me a t-shirt that says 50,000-0-0
