Eubank jr dropped 5-6 times by Blackwell ?

Post by Anzi »

Billie Jo said that Chris Eubank jr was dropped 5 or 6 times in sparing against Nicky Blackwell and had to be taken to hospital, he also said that was the reason he pulled out of a fight with Blackwell, Billie Jo also said that if he could not beat Eubank in 5 rounds he would quit boxing and if he lost against him his dad would beat him with a chain, though Nicky Blackwell is a tough well conditioned fighter, he has never seemed to have that much power in his shots and Eubank jr never seemed chinny, also Chris Eubank sr has made some bold statement about his son beating everyone in the world bar Andre Ward, I know he is a bit eccentric, but would he go that far if his son had been given such a beating against an English level fighter ? I would take anything Billy Joe says with a pinch of salt. Good fighter but he talks a lot of BS at the best of times.

He's not been hit back yet so we don't know.

That fact Eubank Jr ducked Nick last year and continues to fight 6-8 rounders suggests something to me.

True, but what I meant was that we have seen nothing yet from Eubank jr or Blackwellto suggest that Billie Jo's comments could be accurate.

I'd take it with a pinch of salt. "had to be taken to hospital" ...Pfffft, come on.

It's just the usual war of words to make sure they both get paid more when the fight finally happens.

As a trainer, I have watched sparing many times, over the years, but never seen anyone knocked down 5 or 6 times, the trainer would have stopped the spar well before it got to 5 or 6, never mind the hospital bit, though he did mention that Nicky Blackwell told him this.

I doubt he would of been Froch sparring partner is he was that easy to drop, sparring is like work, sometimes you just have a bad day.

It's amazing how great some fighters claim they are in sparring, pity most can't back their claims up when it comes to the real thing.

Considering Eubank would beat GGG I doubt this actually happened.

Highly doubt Blackwell dropped him 5-6 times in a spar. As mentioned above, can't imagine any trainer would allow it to continue to that point. BJS trying to build a future fight with Eubank Jr. I would imagine..
