calzaghes jealousy is out of control
calzaghes jealousy is out of control
I'm sick of the myth that sheep on here peddle that calzaghe would have beaten Froch in a fight.
Calzaghes biggest wins were against either shot (Eubanks,Jones jnr) fighters or past their best (Hopkins) and in bhops case I'll go to the grave knowing calzaghe lost that fight.lacey was American hype.kessler wasn't as good as the version that fought Froch.
Yet listen to Joe brag "how he conquered america and the world and was the no 1 fighter at sm and lh" the fact is two fading 40 something's dropped him on his area,he never conquered america.he didn't fight Jones jnr or tarver or Taylor at their peak.he denied Reid's rematch and yes I had robin winningthat
Froch on the other hand is a guy who has a record far far superior to Joe.he's beaten American speedsters (dirrel and taylor),punchers (Abraham), and guys like ,bute, pascal and the same Glen johnson Joe pulled out of fighting, unlike Joe ,carl has taken on the best anywhere.
Yet listen to calzaghe s sour grapes in today's daily mail.fact is if calzaghe s career had been at its peak during 1987-1995 or 2009-2014 he would have been schooled by froch, ward, and others.

The same people bleating joe would beat Carl are the same who were saying groves did to Carl in the first fight what Joe would have done, and the same who thought Bute would do what "calzaghe would have done" when will these people learn

Re: calzaghes jealousy is out of control
Granted I think Froch is the better puncher compared to Calzaghe's latter career, where his left hand was badly gnarled. However, it's no great stretch of the imagination to see Joe being the smarter fighter, and winning rounds with his busier and more effective style. I think you're looking a distance fight, with Froch landing some good punches here and there. I think Carl would lose by at least 116-111.
Re: calzaghes jealousy is out of control
Froch better career, but Joe really would have beat him clearly, I'm sure of that
Re: calzaghes jealousy is out of control
Calzaghe on his worst day still beats froch. While froch has the better cv he can never claim he was the best in any division. Jc was no1 in 2 divisions. There is just noway froch could beat him.
Re: calzaghes jealousy is out of control
Doesn't matter who froch fights Calzage would school him, also beat a prime Kessler, first defeat of lacy who was never the same!!
Re: calzaghes jealousy is out of control
If FW had unleashed Joe earlier, I wonder what we would be saying now? Calzaghe would still be #1 today. It would be a cracking fight between them, but Joe wins. He should of took it when Froch was giving Joe the Groves treatment.
Re: calzaghes jealousy is out of control
Mugabi - some partial truths there...bits I disagree with.
1) Kessler better vs Froch than vs Calzaghe.... give over.
2) The "same" Johnson who Calzaghe ducked.... might be the same man, but it was 6/7 years later - Johnson wasn't the same threat.
and - I aint convinved about Abrahams power at Super Middle. Look at how many times he's gone the distance at the weight.
Rest I do agree with - especially the bit about Hopkins.

Re: calzaghes jealousy is out of control
I think if they'd have fought when Carl was chasing it, it would have been MUCH closer than people like to think. IE. The Carl vs pascal fighting the joe vs RJJ. Joe was getting put over by lesser punchers.
Also, it amazes me that people mention that version of RJJ as a signature win for joe.
I think prime vs prime it's joes fight, but people need to recognise that froch is a fighter whose greater that the sum of his parts. He just looks SO awkward, but it's obv a different story when he's in front of you.

A fading Hopkins? He still hasn't 6 years later!

Why do people ignore the truth on this particular detail ?
Plus his manager flew over with Mikkel and then suffered a massive heart attack and was in intensive care the week of the fight.

Re: calzaghes jealousy is out of control
If Kessler decided to take the extra money offered, rather than pull-out as he initially planned ... then that is his own stupid fault - and not Joe Calzaghe's.
But let's not pretend the issues surrounding Kessler weren't real, because they absolutely was.
Usually Joe is sedated and taken to the arena at gun point - but on this occaision he was well aware of the opponent's handicap and made sure Kessler was waiting around quite a while before he made his own entrance, to counter any hand injections he might have had prior.

I don't think Joe ever went into a fight with two good hands. They were ruined years ago.G0mez wrote:If Kessler decided to take the extra money offered, rather than pull-out as he initially planned ... then that is his own stupid fault - and not Joe Calzaghe's.

Re: calzaghes jealousy is out of control
I'm not saying Calzaghe fought the best Kessler. For many occasions I called for Joe to fight Kessler again. I think Kessler learned from it.
However, it was years down the line when Kessler fought Froch. In that time Kessler had more injury worries and just got outclassed and out fought by Ward. Kessler was never the same fighter after Ward.
But still Kessler won that first fight fairly and squarely.
I think the whole world was saying Kessler at 34 had deteriorated further ahead of their rematch. That's why Froch was quite a warm favourite going into the fight.

Boxers have injuries.
Infact, I used to think you were a doctor Gomez as you were always so quick to document the various injuries that Froch had going into certain fights. Perforated eardrum against Taylor, hurt rib against Pascal, etc etc. I thought he was the 6 million dollar man in disguise.

Kessler got better after losing against Calzaghe and Ward.? He learnt how to lose in Cardiff and came out a battered man in Oakland.
Yeah he still had good power with some decent stoppages against Haussler? Boudhia but looked faded and disorganised beating Froch, the partisan crowd roaring him on.
He looked dead stiff against Allan Green who made him do a funny dance before getting ironed and still went the distance with Froch hurting him badly along the wa.
.Next you'll be telling us he was a Prime Kessler!

People need to remember that Joe would make up lies about being scared of flying so he didn't have to travel to the States. And as for the 8000 withdrawals against Johnson, we know he never fancued that one.
Froch has never ducked anyone, and for that he deserves credit. Yeah, he might not want Golovkin now, but he has earned the right to have a swansong in a fight that won't likely damage him, win or lose.
Froch is a warrior, Joe's career was smoke and mirrors

Despite the fact Froch clearly is ducking Ward?

And how many operations did he have ?mickey1975 wrote: I don't think Joe ever went into a fight with two good hands. They were ruined years ago.
Carl's had 2, Kessler had 1 and Joe had ZERO.
Same goes for his rumoured fear of flying, it never stopped his trips to Sardinia and Italy - but afflicted him when all of his American rivals were at the peak of their powers.
He also had the good old 'dodgy back' that made him pull out of the Glen Johnson fight that was rescheduled - nothing to do with Glen knocking Jones clean out in between. That ended up in compensation being sought by Glen for loss of earnings when a third date fell through. That was another clause written into Lacy's contract if he stalled the fight again.
All these excuses, clauses and withdrawals and refusal to rematch littered his whole career.

I actually agree with some of what you're saying. To be honest, I'm getting a bit bored of these threads, same as Hatton-Witter. I've been the same debate for five years. It's Carls time now, and after last weekend you, of all people, should just be content and not worrying about a fighter he never even boxed, or ever will.G0mez wrote:And how many operations did he have ?mickey1975 wrote: I don't think Joe ever went into a fight with two good hands. Re: calzaghes jealousy is out of control
The only reason Calzaghe is thought of so highly is because he dodged the big names as their peak, so therefore there is no irrefutable evidence he would have got beaten by them.
The likes of Froch and Hatton fought the top guys, and came up short, so it is there in black and white. That makes it easier to say they would lose to this guy and that guy.
Both could have fought average contenders for years, but instead shot for the stars

Andre Ward was described as a Billy Goat by even the showtime commentators in that fight. Jack Reiss didn't get the Wembley gig purely on account of that horrendous officiating that would have seen Ward be disqualified if it had happened anywhere else in the world and especially in Denmark.
No punches cut Kessler, it was headbutt after headbutt - round after round. It was a disgusting approach by Ward.

Ward can be extremely dirty, no doubt about it. Very strong on the inside, too. Basically a nightmare for anyone. P4p no2 for me. Could be number one, we'll never know as nobody will fight him!
Re: calzaghes jealousy is out of control
Can't believe this post, Froch has too many weaknesses and technical flaws to beat Calzaghe and Froch lost to Dirrell, but he got a home town decision, Bute was over rated and could have been ko'ed earlier in his career, but for a dodgy ref, who saved him, Pascal is just an ordinary fighter, Taylor folds when anyone put's it on him and floored Froch, having him in all sorts of problems, Abraham was only a middleweight, whose stock had fallen, before he met Froch and Ward totally out classed Froch, Calzaghe never lost, Froch has lost and it could of been more, I think Calzaghe would have out boxed Froch.mugabi wrote:I'm sick of the myth that sheep on here peddle that calzaghe would have beaten Froch in a fight.
